on 31:35 , are we taking Nq' for 29 degree or 25 degree? Prof Kousik says in the video that take Nq' according to 29 degrees but calculates according to 25 degrees. Someone please explain.

What should be the value use of unit weight(dry or submerged) in IS method when the water table above the foundation level?

In Soil Mechanics by Arora, they have mentioned q in the surcharge term as effective value.since we are not considering effect of water table on surcharge by a seperate factor (like Rw for wedge term),we have to take q=submerged unit wt.*corresponding depth+bulk unit wt*corresponding depth not submerged. Please cross-check.

In example 1 using terzaghi's thry Can anyone tell why we have used 1-0.2b/L and Nq-1 while we have direct value for net ultimate bearing capacity as gama*Df*Nq + 1/2 gama*B*N gama

here we need to calculate net ultimate bearing capacity so gamma*depth of foundation should be neglected from ulti bearing capacity equation so that's why gamma*df times of nq (multiply that inside u will get to know).....and next one is 1-0.2 B/L.....the terzaghi theory is for strip footing but here we got rectangular footing so alfa 1 and alfa2 should be added as correction factor the value-added(1-0.2 B/L) here is alfa 2 value (alfa one terms tends to zero because of cohesionless soil )
