How To Mod Your Nintendo Wii Using ModMii!

Hello all, XFlak here, creator of ModMii. I skimmed the video and overall looks like a great tutorial, however during the file cleanup step it is more ideal to point modmii to the files on your sd card or usb rather than the copy to SD folder. Not only is this faster, but by cleaning up the copy to folder, erasing the sd card, and copying copy to folder contents back, you may lose customizations/configs that were made (I. E. If you adjusted usb loader gx's settings these edits would be lost and have to be set again). So best to just have modmii clean up the sd card or usb directly

Excellent guide! Aside from the lack of Game Boy Player support, the Wii is my preferred way of playing GameCube games since I can use virtual memory cards with Nintendont and because some titles have a performance boost when they're run with Nintendont too.

Excellent comprehensive guide, thank you! I have two questions you might have an aswer to, the first more important than the second! 1st - Whenever I launch a GC game, my wii mote stops working, it either has all the lights on or just the player 4 light, and it does not respond to any input. This is a bummer because I cant play any GC games! 2nd - My USBLoaderGX will only read USBs that are formatted to WBFS, any USBS formatted as FAT32 i get an error message that says "Drive not Initilized" - Ironically enough, when I load games thru my SD card (which is formatted in FAT32), they work. This is annoying but not that big of a deal since i can still load games from an SD card, or just keep it formatted as WBFS and use it only for wii games.

Try Wii Flow instead of USB Loader GX. I have always liked it more and have fat less issues.

I just got a modded Wii with a 32GB SDHC card loaded with some games. I’m wondering if I can use a 512GB microSD card on my Wii to load games instead of using a hard drive. I know I’d need to format it to FAT32, but will the apps work properly? I’ve been getting a lot of mixed answers, so if anyone knows, please let me know!

Whenever I try to load Usbloader GX on the Wii, it presumably doesn't load all the way and becomes stuck on the almost wholly white screen at 30:36. The console doesn't freeze, I can still move the cursor. I've tried reformatting it a few times now and made sure its FAT32 and MBR and nothing has worked. Anything else I should try or is it possible this won't work on the USB at all and I should get a new one?

Yes, you use a wad manager like during the initial setup. You can keep the one mod mii gives you and be set.

@@ArchadesGames thank you. That worked. I just need to figure out why I get far less save block space when I installed them via a USB drive. My SD shows the full 32GB worth of save blocks. My 1TB USB drive said it was full with just a few wiiware games installed. Think I need to have my wad folder on the SD card and not the USB drive.

@@ArchadesGames Worked out what its doing, when I install wareware game with YAWM it installs it into the Wii memory so I only have around 1400 block to use. If I then move the game to SD card it moves over but the channel no longer shows up on the Wii system channel menu. Data management shows its on the SD card but channel does not show up. Not sure how to make the game appear again.
