the wii is my childhood , was my first and only console that my dad gifted me when i was 6 or 7 yo . i have 10s of 1000s of hours playing mkwii and nsmbw and countless other games , not to mention wii sports/resort and wii party , its still lying around in my house but its quite sad i havent played it in over a year , i am planning on getting it installed on the main tv and play again sometime soon ;)

They can close down the e-stores, they can create obstacles to repairing or replacing components that were designed to have a very limited lifespan, they can (and have) even threaten legal action against their own loyal customers for trying to keep their cherished devices alive. No more reliance on fragile discs or aging/cheap drive motors in irreplaceable (or at least super difficult to replace) optical drives. No more being virtually bent over the barrel by "influencer" collectors driving the prices of physical copies well outside rationality. No more allowing the manufacturers to decide when we stop playing our beloved games. We paid for it, we expect it to work. It's ours, their ever-changing scope and definition of "licensing" be damned. We'll sell it off when we're good and ready, not when they tell us it's time.

Imo the best reason to mod a wii outside of "wii" stuff is retro gaming. Wii was kind of the first hackable console to emulate so many games like computers can and that's really cool. You can play pretty much the entire nintendo library up to that point (including gamecube without needing the controller) and even most of the sega consoles and ps1. (Ds emulation sucks though) and between the wiimote, nunchuck, classic controller, the nes/snes classic controllers, etc. You have many options to play all of them. The awkward resoluton of the wii also makes the emulation better? It ends up blending pixels in ways you'd expect on old crts (the sonic waterfall for one) and overall blurs a good line between jaggedly clear and unplayably foggy. If you want a "true" retro experience or just want to play more hardcore games that the wii itself can't provide, emulation is the way to go.

Better graphics does not mean better game! My type of games are with the Wii along with Super Nintendo and other classics out there not only do they offer replayablity but it also offers challenges like the OG Nintendo and Super Nintendo games, I know there are new games out there that are hard BUT most of the one's we get are not only too easy but feel more like a copy and paste and the games never feel complete and the deal with digital! I have been told to get with the time I say, NO! Because in my day once you buy the game it's YOURS and best part no DLC meaning the game is complete finished not saying DLC is bad but these days the games never really seem finished but when you have games like Super Mario World the game is complete and yours go have some fun!

something to remember is that games from other regions can't play on the wii with another region so you can only play Japanese games unless you homebrew it, then i think on usb loader you can play whatever region you want.
