I love Frank. He is the ultimate anti-performer. He doesn't have a stick. And whatever he wants to go with at the moment he does so. He certainly works hard and works his musicians just as hard, taking his music seriously, but not himself. Love that guy. RIP big man.

Do you know why there's a Bob Dylan impression? I'm not american so I'm missing context, if there's any...
@eddieisadrummer Жыл бұрын
Adrian Belew originally did the part bc he imitated Dylan once either at the audition or rehearsal (not totally sure) and Frank decided he was gonna work it into the show somehow. Ed Mann does a pretty fantastic job with it here.
@_innerscape_ Жыл бұрын
@@eddieisadrummer yep, thanks. I've found the story with a bit of searching, sometimes I forget how powerful is the web. According to Adrian Belew it was born indeed while Frank was playing the song for him, but since he couldn't sing and play at the same time the all thing sounded to him like a drunk Bob Dylan, he did the impression, Frank loved it and put it in the song. Incredible.
@IlBiggo8 ай бұрын
@@_innerscape_ Plus, the idea of Bob Dylan, hero of the working class, ranting about workers trying to scam him is hilarious. Imagine this middle-class Dylan in his middle-class house having to deal with the ineptitude of most current workers. I never managed to do it because the band folded up, but I had this part ready in the 'voice' and words of Francesco Guccini, which amongst Italian singers-songwriters is probably the most deserving of the "Dylan" title.
@_innerscape_8 ай бұрын
@@IlBiggo Yep! That could be also another level of humor! Didn't consider that. For sure we're not short of lefties wannabe working class heroes in Italy, eh? :-)

In another video he would shook hands with the audience while continuing his guitar solo with the left hand. And all that after the 1971 London incident when he was attacked on stage, fell into the orchestra pit and had to spend a few months in a wheelchair.

Frank Zappa IS among the most misunderstood artists. I am Norwegian. I do not know all irony and stuff but I'm familiar to Frank Zappa's universe. Frank was a gentleman and down to earth. A Norwegian impressario was asked what super star that impressed him the most. Frank Zappa and Diana Ross he said. The impressario asked Frank Zappa what they could bring him. A car as I can explore Oslo. A simple car.
