“Even though my sails never sailed away” He means he can’t stop thinking of her The poet portrayed the girl as a beach and his thoughts as boats So the boats never leave the beach=his thoughts are always with her The translator wanted to translate the song literally and because of this sometimes ppl from other cultures can’t understand the meaning of the lyrics I’m an Arabic native speaker and I can say clearly “IT’S A MASTERPIECE” and it’s much more emotional when you understand it in Arabic

The story of the song Anna and Laila by Kazem El Saher: For connoisseurs only Kazem El-Saher says when I read the words (I and Laila) I have been searching for the poet for five years And when I published an appeal and an announcement to know the author of that poem, I found the writer of the poem, a poor poor man He is an Arabic language teacher studying in one of the remote areas of Baghdad. When he came to me, he brought me the entire poem, 355 verses And everyone who claims that this is his poem was He brings me two or four lines of the poem When Hassan Al-Marwani came to the studio and started composing the poem, he started crying..... He told me I am not a poet. Because I wrote it as an expression of a human condition that I went through in my college days, it brought back memories the story : Hassan Al-Marawi. . from Iraq From the city of Maysan. . He was a young man from a very poor family. . It was hard and studied. . . And the days passed. . And he became one of the diligent students at the University of Baghdad, the College of Arts. He was a simple, easygoing person. . His tongue and bright words. . Simple dress, but inside it treasures and tragedies. . His injury occurred. . On a girl called Laila. . I love her. . And she loved him. . And they agreed to marry after graduation. . And at the end of his year. . From the academic year. . Laila came with her fiancé. . Hassan Al-Marwa was shocked. . Then . . Leave studies for a period of time. . Fortunately, he was not restrained. . And on graduation day. . Hassan Al-Marwani entered wearing a black cat. . But the tear strangled miraculously. . Persevere, O Maraani. . .. the important . . Greet friends and sit with them for a while. . Two days before that, Hassan Al-Marawani said to a friend. . Ashraf Al-Kazemi. . He wrote a poem. . But he can't read it Ashraf told him. . We'll see, dear.. who is dearer (to read it or lose me) .. Half an hour after Hassan Marwani sat at the table with his friends. . Only a voice is calling. . You will hear now, brothers. . A poem from Hassan Al-Marawi. . Hassan was surprised. . And attention turns to him. . Those eyes forced him to get up and grabbed the microphone. . And he said . . I will give you T last poem. . . in this walk. . I turned. . And we looked at the beloved with sad looks and her fiancé was standing beside her. . And he said . . She died in the mihrab of your eyes. I pray you. . And I surrendered to the winds of despair. . It dried up on your door. . Ozmanti Layla and did not produce anything Ndaaati. Laila cried and went and sat in the last seat. . . And her tears burn her cheeks. . . Look at it again. . And a quick look at the preacher and said. . Aman I did not turn me into a melody on a chord. . I did not wake up to the light of my heavens. I release love in my heart and squeeze it. . . Vrsif worry in the dusty glasses. . She said it is enough, my dear. . I beg you . . Marwani was weak and wanted to leave the microphone except for Ashraf Scream complete. The first tear fell from Hassan Al-Marwani's tears, and his eyes started to turn red. . And he said . . I'm torn. Neither prestige nor luxury... you are tempted by me. Leave me alone. . If you squeeze the years of your life to complete them.. I will ask of them.. bleeding from my wounds.. So he pointed at her with the finger of testimony and with all his heart.. and said: If I was a luxury, you would not refuse my love. . But the hardship of the situation, the poverty of the situation, the weakness of the situation is tragic. I suffered I suffered ... I do not reveal my grief and you do not know anything about my suffering. . I walk and laugh. Yaleli arrogantly. . I have to hide from people, I'm waiting to come.. People don't know what I'm doing, so excuse him, and they have no way of my comfort. . . He anchors my eyelids with a blanket that sucks my blood.. and makes me smile if he wants. . Excuse me, Layla. . That you miscarried my hope..it is not your fault. . But it was my foolishness. . In the desert Arabs, I lost my convoy and came looking for myself in your eyes. . I came to your green arms, walking like a child carrying my innocent dreams. . . Grsti your palm Tjttin my veins. . And you crush without kindness without kindness, my pleasure. . Ashraf cried. . . Hassan before. . He said complete He said, "Wow, you have been lost, and a civilian has migrated from me.. and my sails have not sailed from them." And screamed, I was banished, and strangers settled in my country and destroyed all my beloved things. . Everyone who was present in the hall wept over the words and their form. . So he turned to her and said: Your eyes have betrayed you. . In falsehood and in lies. . And he turned to his fiancé and said. . Or deceived by dazzling deception. . . my lord . . Butterfly I came to throw my eyeliner on your wings, so my wings were unjustly burned. . I shout with the sword planted in my waist and treachery destroyed my high hopes. . She said, overflowing with tears. Because he's my cousin . He cried. . And you, too, should your hands not repent. . If you have killed me and tortured you, I will come. . Melli, by removing your transparent name from my language, then you will be without Layla. . Layla . . She turned and said. . My story. . He left the microphone and Ashraf embraced him. . And he kissed him and said to him. . Yawli. . I have tears in the eyes of those who look at it.. and the ears merge with crying He came out after five minutes. Layla fainted. They took her to the hospital. . I came back in good shape. . But she had a very cruel father.. and betrothed her to the cousin.. So the cousin went to Hassan Al-Marawi while weeping and said. . I'm sorry I didn't know about this. .I swear . . This story took place in the year 1979. Hassan Al-Marawani left and traveled to the Emirates because of her..and he stayed there for more than 16 years..to this day. As for the poem, it was scrawled on the wall of the University of Baghdad, and it is still present, in memory of “for that wonderful and sad love.... Greetings.. and there is no consolation for the one who lost his beloved, for torment and poetry has become his doctor... A picture of Hassan and Laila

This is the poem (Ana wa Laila wa ashtabaw asmakom) by the poet Hassan Al-Marwani. He recited it when he was a student at the College of Arts in Baghdad during the seventies of the last century during a poetry festival at the college. He was poor and his girlfriend was a rich student. She used to listen to the poem and cry at the end of the ceremony hall. The poem was well received by the students and spread among all the universities. Years later, the composer and singer Kazem Al-Saher heard about it and searched for the poet. He said that four people contacted him and claimed that the poem was originally theirs, but in the end he reached Al-Marwani and recited it in front of him and showed him its original version. It was sung by a singer from the city of Kirkuk named Akram Tuzlu in 1974 AD, and the artist Riyad Ahmed sang it in the form of a mawwal in his last concert before his death at the Babylon International Festival in 1996 AD. However, it did not gain fame until Al-Saher sang it and it was released in 1998 AD as part of an album bearing the same name. Kazem El Saher says about the poem: “I became aware of this poem in the eighties when I listened to two lines of it and searched for it but could not find it. By chance I met two people, each of whom said that he wrote it, and the situation continued until 1992... until I found a friend who was a relative of Hassan Al Marwani, who wrote it, and he brought us the poem, which is approximately 30 verses... so I chose some of them.” That is, the singer you see singing is the same one who composed the poem, Kazem El Saher, and its lyrics are more effective in the Arabic language.

The part that you didn't understand about his ships that never sailed away meaning that his homeland abandoned him yet he's still couldn't wake up from the shock and move on.. couldn't sail from the port of the homeland that abandoned him. It's like his world is standing still while his whole homeland is moving away. BTW, Kadim is not only the singer, but he's the composer of this song music, and also the composer of most of the songs that he performed. He also composed some songs for other Arab singers as well.
