I THINK (pure memory, without googling) that the specific incident is where there was a “pause” in the fighting between the German and Canadian lines because, you know, it was Christmas. At some point, the Canadians tossed over some stuff into the German trench like cans of soup, packs of cigarettes. Pretty nice, eh? Well, when the Germans asked if there was any more or anything else, the next thing the Canadians tossed over were grenades instead of soup. Dick move.

Look up the Mandatory Declassification Review Process (MDR). It states that any classified information must be reviewed for declassification and requests for its declassification can be made 25 years after the information was classified. The September 11th attacks happened 24 years ago. A lot of information about the attacks is gonna be released next year.

Former DOD worker here. DOD doesnt give a damn about the american people or their citizen workers. the base i worked on for 5 years had marine snipers positioned all over the base and their job was to shoot and kill any threat to their assets on sight, civilian or foreign. the stress of working under such oversight has a huge effect on your mental health. especially when you notice how poor their firearm handling is. i cant tell you how many times i have been bent down and working just to look up and see down the barrel of a shotgun strapped across the chest of a marine on post. i have had more firearms pointed at me in that environment than i care to recall.

Sadly people have a hopeful idea of government and military. The top brass who make most of the decisions are evil, but people like to believe it's just maybe cause if they knew how much and how little is being done about it they'd be harder to manipulate and control. The fact people believe stuff like this only happens in other countries or only happens in the past like they aren't literal villains in criminal organizations is sad, because people actively suffer as a result, and most people will never even hear about it.
