Hello, Isabel. As always, I am completely blown away by the absolute quality of this cover. This was my personal favorite song from the Outtakes. The first verse sounds tragic, and the key fits the sad feeling. In the next verse, the intensity has raised to Hell. I absolutely ADORE the dynamic diversity, especially in comparison to the intense verse (1:47 - 3:09), how it decrescendos over time, and the final, climactic crescendo at the end. Then, we're met with a pianissimo verse, giving off both a foreboding and comforting feeling, foreshadowing the chicken's demise or Bo Burnham's optimistic perspective. Leave it to Bo Burnham to write a song explaining why the chicken crossed the road while simultaneously making us feel things 😂 In all seriousness, in this cover, you absolutely *flexed* your incredible vocal range. Without a doubt the best cover I've heard vocally of this song.

This is the perfect "what if" ending for inside. It's clear that this is both a shift in perspective to answer the question of why the chicken crossed the road, and an allegory for Bo's struggles. He'd possibly be okay continuing to be a comic, but that's not all he is. He's a person who aspires for more, and he's always wanted to be content. If you think about it, the chicken crossing the road was his attempt to move on in life, and the car was like quarantine. From there, he either made inside and continued forward... Or it caused him to give up. Most believe the latter, that he's really given up. But I like to believe that Bo made it out alive, and he got to the other side. Perhaps he's living life as a happier person, finally putting comedy behind him. Regardless, I can tell that Chicken wasn't meant to make it into Inside. It, in essence is the "what if" song, the possible result that didn't really happen. Goodbye was always going to be the last song in Inside, and it's meant to have a bad ending. It's like the two songs are kind of the two different endings, both literally and figuratively. In the end, it's really just open to interpretation. But aside from the meanings of the song, I want to say that you did an amazing job covering it! It gave me chills as I was listening, and I can definitely say you did it justice.

I've listened to this 4 times in a row trying to figure out why your voice sounds so good. You have a beautiful voice. It translates well to Burnham songs. This is a fun and clever song, which I've never heard before, but it is sung with such melancholy. Your voice, which is a perfect musical voice, I would describe as a happy tone. I wonder if that beautiful happy tone singing such a melancholic song is the key. I know it would be hard for you to be objective about your own voice but I'd be interested to know your thoughts. I've been listening to some Randy Newman lately. I think it's going to rain today, losing you, and she chose me are three songs I would describe as having the melancholy feel. I wonder how your voice would do with those songs. Sorry to be so long. I thought about saying "beautiful voice, great job" but I know you put a lot of thought and work into your performance.
