Why Vaulting Maps Is Killing Fall Guys

This is so sad. What made me really angry was the fact that people were able to play vaulted maps for 30 minutes WITH NO REPORTS.

I did say that in the video, but will say thousands of players were playing the game, people were bound to find at least one of them, and people did actually, the tiles in thin ice weren't breaking, didn't know this until someone commented it on this video.

The worst part about vaulting is what they did to customs. In SS1 they made a huge deal about bringing back so many new maps to customs. Now there are even less custom shows than prior to SS1. Including Roll Call and Jungle Jumble which I've probably spent a combined 1000 hours playing over the years. 😭

Even though I don't play customs like at all, loved how even though a map was vaulted you could still play it in customs, now if one map is vaulted an entire LTM could potentially not appear, that's just absurd to me.

@@Izzytorium Yeah, literally makes no sense too. Like why would they include Roll Off as a final in solo show but not Roll On or Roll Out? Is removing 2-roll-based finals but including the other really going to make it so much easier for MT to test their game? Of course not, this is just evidence that they randomly selected which maps to vault without even thinking logically about it. And only then once they selected the maps to vault did they go through all of the customs and remove the impacted levels. Everyone is acting like Mediatonic had some master plan on deciding which levels to vault or unvault... it's all BS, they literally put no thought into it and the state of customs right now is proof.

I think your example of slimescraper being removed because switch couldn't handle low gravity, and yet they still have an entire "hex-a-gravity" map completely covered by low grav is another example to this point as well. They literally were tasked with "pick 40 maps to vault" and they did it randomly lol

Honestly the thing I probably hate the most is Mediatonic/Fall Guy's communication. We've had 0 news about Creative mode, 0 news about why rounds are vaulted for MONTHS (Even though we have seen that there's NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM! and work perfectly fine). I just hate it because I LOVE Fall guys it's a great game but the state that it's in is just UNACCEPTABLE. Btw tysm Izzytorium for speaking about this! I used to call myself one of the biggest Fall Guys fans, and I would play the game every day for 4-7 hours. Now, I rarely log on because constantly playing the same maps gets boring. I log on about once a week, play like 1 or 2 games and log off. I would like old maps like Thin Ice and Fall Mountain back, because they were pretty fun. If Fall Guys doesn't bring back their maps, I might never play the game again, or play maybe once a month. Also playing the LTM modes was fun, but if they are repeated and some other LTM modes don't appear it gets boring. Fall Guys was unique because of their big map selection, and if they take it away, they are basically taking away the thing that makes the game special.

Back in Legacy Season 4 or in March 26th, 2021 to be more exact I bought fall guys on steam cause it was on sale and I was hooked, would play the game for 5 - 8 hours a day, I lost my job at the time and didn't have much to do so I would get up and play this game nonstop, loved it so much I made this channel to teach people how to get better at certain maps and still do but to a lesser degree. I still do love this game but not as much as I did back then. Glad the game went free to play cause a whole lot more people got introduced to the game and some even got reintroduced to it but since it went F2P, quality control has been terrible, can only hope with time they'll get a hang of things and slowly unvault the maps or rotate maps in and out of the vault on a consistent basis.

@@caseykauffman1006 Yes, it is sad to see such great finals go. Fall Mountain is my 3rd favorite final. I like Lost Temple and Thin Ice more, but those maps are vaulted too. I'm sure that in SS4 they'll add more maps back, and maybe they'll bring back other vaulted maps into the new LTMs.

I would love to see the return of the high amount of variety that made me love the game in the first place. Every round you play wont be the same immediately since there was so many maps you could get, instead today I keep getting airtime. I just hope MT won't just vault even more maps, imagine every final is just kraken slam over and over and over and over and- you get the idea. Fall Guys was enjoyable for me for the idea that there is so many maps to try, from fake or real doors, to the neon flippers and bars, to the new space invisible puzzle that not everyone understands yet (lol). The implementation of the vault is acceptable to me, but the fact that *SO MANY* maps got vaulted with no signs of being unvaulted until next season, which might not even happen really makes me worried about the future of the game if nothing new happens.

Vaulting could be better and more liked it they unvaulted things on a consistent basis, game had so much variety yet you wouldn't know it if you started playing Fall Guys in Season 2 Satellite Scramble or in Season 3 Sunken Secrets.

Before the Hatsune Miku event (which started all these vaulting problems), every single map was in the game (75 maps) and the game worked normally. Sure, the Switch caused some problems, but at that point just remove/fix the maps only for the Switch without having to bother the other platforms. Vaulting is just too unnecessary and MediaTonic is wondering why the game is dying.

I've seen people say the switch should have its own roundpool away everyone else, I don't know how to feel about that, times like this I'm starting to agree but wouldn't be fair to the switch players it's like turning crossplay off which makes it near impossible to find matches. You could vault variants if their causing problems I'd be okay with that but whole maps? that's just too much imo. \ They vaulted hoverboard heroes cause the SS2 variant of it was buggy, the map had invisible ion thrusters and the board was moving too fast, so we don't know if the board moving too fast would've transferred over to the other variants, not like it mattered cause the SS2 variant was the only one in the game.

This is really disappointing right now. I really hope my favourite map, Space Race, gets unvaulted at some point and gets another chance to shine because it has been in for the least amount of time, and there are probably no problems with the map at all, just like with Cosmic Highway I saw people playing that map when everything got unvaulted for 30 minutes and there were no issues I could find

The game going F2P was mediatonic's 2nd chance and while the numbers will never be as low as they once were cause of the multiple ports, I do think with vaulting and there overall lack of communication, the player count will eventually decrease substantially. I think map maker or Fall guys creative will be there 3rd and last chance, game will see a huge boost in players but if they don't maintain and add onto it regularly, could be game over.

Yes, vaulting only makes sense with rotation. I had a weekly rotation in mind, but if that's too fast for maintanance on the maps, they could do 2 weeks or 3, but a rotation is necessary. On the Nintendo Switch the palyers should be able to have graphic settings. The Switch is very weak in comparison to other consoles, so why are the players forced to have a certain setting, instead of "boosting" their fps from 10 to 30? Nobody cares about shadows and stuff. Maybe it would also help with the flashing bug, because when I played on Switch it was very inconsistent. Sometimes I got it, sometimes not for days.

Agreed, switch port isn't going anywhere and it's clear as day that it can't handle the default graphic settings so why not let people adjust it? Performance Mode would be neat and is something fortnite has, it sacrifices quality for performance.

This is why I only play fall guys just to complete daily and weekly challenge for fame and crown shards then leaves. Back in SS1 Free for All, the game state was PERFECTLY FINE, so many maps and variety, just a few got vaulted due to the performance issue (like leading light) not half of the maps in the game today, it makes this game not fun anymore.

This is how we went from the vaulting, Early 2023. lack of variety, over 40 maps vaulted, and getting the same LTMS all over, August - December 2023: getting A lot of good maps unvaulted like slimescraper, short circuit, Starchart (although it did get removed in the fall forever update due to physics change but still), tiptoe finale, volleyfall, and more, December 2023 - may 2024, we keep getting updates with no unvaults and more maps vaulted, Fall forever update: (may 7th - 29th 2024) horrible roundpool, more creative maps than unity, more lazy PVP survival rounds, and only one LTM from the update, May 29th 2024: a lot better roundpool than before, getting maps unvaulted in late summer, but 5 removed due to physics change,(block party wall guys, starchart party promenade and lost temple) although, lost temple was still in knockout up to July 24 update, but later returned on august 1st along with space race and hyperdrive heroes, and party promenade did get unvaulted one day after the July update released, but later removed again on august 16, June 2024 - present, the roundpool is absolutely improving, getting 10+ maps unvaulted, and we got good maps like space race, speed circuit, ski fall, knight fever, hyperdrive heroes, and roll on unvaulted, and getting LTMS back, however 2 did get removed due to pipes being buggy, those being pipe dream and party promenade, I can’t believe we went from 44 maps vaulted to 15 maps unvaulted, we’re almost close to every map unvaulted,

If you don't count Sweet and Treat Thieves since there modes and not part of the core rounds it's 13 unity levels that are still in the vault which is a massive improvement! Hope they focus on bringing back variants we haven't seen in a long time, but very happy with the unvaulting either way, let's hope they keep it up!

what makes me sad is that i have been playting since legacy season 2 release, and i remember thinkinbg to myself "i cant wait until there are so many more maps!!" i used to play all the time!! ever since SS2 however, it got incredibly boring due to the lack of maps! i stopped playing SS2 and waited until SS3 released, the last time i played fall guys was the release of SS3 wish makes me so sad. i used to love this game so much, but ive seen it slowly fade off and die. the next time i will be giving it a chance is when the level creator releases, or until almost all the maps come back. I miss playing fall guys, especially maps like slimescraper and slime climb! i loved greifing people and i used to have so much fun on fall guys :(

This reminds of fortnite when epic deleted the LTMs from the game (ltms are basically different gamemodes similar to the normal battle royal style but with a spin on it) epic deleted ltms 2 years ago and received major backlash for it's removal and they never said why they deleted it, to this day ltms are still vaulted.

I don't believe Walsh for a second when they say 'certain rounds that don't stand the test of time' when they haven't vaulted Hit Parade, Gate Crash and Seesaw. You mean to tell me Slimescraper didn't "stand the test of time" or is outdated when half the community has been begging for it back😆 Even Freezy Peak is more fun then some of those original levels... Felt like a run of the mill interview answer, and not the truth of the matter. Totally agree with you. No rounds should be vaulted for THIS long. Bi-weekly thing would make the game feel fresh again.

It's probably cause the map is either undergoing changes like music, or the map itself is changing like in slimescraper before it got vaulted you could see the slime being reduced in some areas and the bumper & bollards don't bounce you as far, or the main reason is that the map is downright buggy and not ready to be released, vaulting probably allows them not have to worry about fixing the map right away and just focus on the other things like creative, it's essentially like throwing your clothes in a huge pile in the closet and forgetting about it as you do something else.

Of the 30 mins that maps were unvaulted, there were NO reports for bugs. I think it’s ridiculous that they are vaulting just because of the switch port. I play in switch, and yes I do have some issues, but if there was really a bug with epilepsy, they would have vaulted Skyline Stumble. I have played Skyline Stumble soo many times.

First thing they need to work on is a screen on What console are you? So when people choose switch they can not get any low gravity zone maps and if there is vaulted maps that have no bugs on other consoles they are playable.

I think there will come a point where the switch point will be decent, wish it was decent when it came out but what can you do, they just need to fix the major performance issues with that port like yesterday. I do think giving the switch a specific round pool could be something they do for a while then when the port is stable, they can make it to where they can join the rest of the us.

Easier said than done of course, mediatonic's management needs to be improved cause that's what people who work at mediatonic says needs to be done and at times it can be disorganized which is apparent. This season is ending in early april according to the marathon challenges let's hope the next season will have most of the maps back but I doubt it.

In SS2 bubble trouble got a new varient I have only played that varient once or twice since bubble trouble got taken out almost immediately since the bubbles still sometimes won’t spawn this also effect The satellite repair mission event at the end of SS1 it Just really frustrating when this game has maps that from what I can tell work perfectly fine like fall mountain, lost temple and slimescraper, yet they are still vaulting maps

Customs at the start of SS1 had it to where you needed 2 people to start a game, they later changed it to 10 and now its 5 for most of the games. We did have time attack which was time trials that's as close to as "training" as we'll get.

I am spreading awareness to people who still don’t know this is not MediaTonic’s fault at all as their control over the game has been vaulted (see what i did there?) since SS1, all of the vaulting, customs getting killed, and sudden greediness since SS1 and more are all Epic Games fault.

When it comes to vaulting and anything involving map removals, cause most maps to have been removed cause of bugs and they are being untested according to mediatonic themselves I doubt epic is involved, don't think they want people getting bored of the game leaving. However, will agree with you for when it comes to the store, what IPS they will collab with next and basically anything to do with monetization is probably epic, the store is basically a copy of Fortnite's, the way they structured the season pass is probably influenced by them as well.

I've always had this feeling that Epic put in place some sort of rules that lead to the death of Fall Guys. Everything was completely fine until the buyout. The question is, though, what did Epic do?

Epic's era started in Legacy Season 4 or back in late march 2021 and the game had variety heck even SS1 had all its maps so I believe this is mostly a mediatonic choice, main reason maps are getting vaulted is cause of bugs, performance issues and gameplay issues, that's the official reason given anyways. Won't say Epic has no influence over the game cause they do but mainly when it comes to the store, collaboration skins and monetization in general.

When I first saw how long this season was and so few new maps I was kinda bummed but I thought "well, it's the holidays, plus they'll be rotating from the vault all season and they're probably gonna do the creative mode next season and blah blah" buuut we're almost half way through the season and there's been no rotation, no communication, no ltm variety, seems like nothing's really changed. Well, except it kinda feels like the body blocking is getting worse but that might just be me. But, I just can't imagine them changing their ways at this point. The unintentional unvaulting is really interesting to me, and I'm quite positive about the things people saw. What if most of the maps vaulted really had issues, Mediatonic was fixing them, and when the unvaulting happened we saw Mediatonic's work but we went into "nah, they're just vaulting them for no reason and they want to kill the game". Thinking this (which is a very reasonable explanation for me) makes me a little bit more positive about the future. Also we have to take in account that they're not just "fixing bugs", they need to work in the new season stuff (maps, skins, emote animations, etc) and they're working on the Level Editor while not being a big team (and no, recluiting more employees don't accelerate things that much). That's all I can say in defense of MT. Still, it's laughable how bad the communication is from them. Everything could went better if they just said why vaulted maps were vaulted one by one, or how much time it could take them to fix the maps and how well they're doing about that. Heck, they could use the vibe checks in order to get feedback about which rounds could be rotated, but nah (at least they aknowledged problems with Kudos and hackers in the last vibe check). Anyways, there was bug reports and bugs fixed reports in that short period of time. Some fixed bugs were the flashing lights in low-grav zones not being present and Cosmic Highway performing better at the start, while some bugs were ice hexagons not breaking and see saws in Full Tilt not always working properly

Interesting, I do think if the unvaulted maps were in the game for longer than we might've seen more bugs, wonder if they test maps that are vaulted at all cause full tilt and thin ice have been gone for a while now. They probably have a different team that's disconnected from the others to work on creative mode/level editor. Probably a staffing problem and in my "SS2 is the worst season" video I showed some glassdoor reviews from mediatonic employees saying how management is disorganized so maybe that has something to do with the recent decisions, but we'll never know, I guess.

1:08 the causes of the flashing glitch were the Switch heating up, the low-gravity field being animated and the slime floor being animated. If the animations get removed for the Switch Port only, it could be fixed. But I think it’s fixed already, because I haven’t experienced ANY flashing glitches this season. And I’m an active player. I hope Epic and Mediatonic Unvaults it. 2:08 people who got to play Thin Ice said it wasn’t possible to dive-slide on the tiles.

Wait, the slime floor animates? I have over 1.6K hours I never noticed that, makes sense now why the slime floor in some maps have been reduced like in slimescraper, the footage I shot was when the map was briefly in the game it then got removed from the game cause the map was supposed to be vaulted you can see that the slime is reduced in some places, kind of makes sense now actually.

@@Izzytorium yes. The slime floors are animated. I deleted the post with the flickering in Space Race, but I still have a screenshot in The Slimescraper with the glitch. (Oct 29 2022) I have a video of the white screen glitch in Tundra Run too (from SS2) but it wasn’t a risk for seizures. It only became a white screen. What makes it happen could be because the Snow effects are too much for the Switch to handle. If Mediatonic or Epic remove these effects it could mean that more maps get unvaulted like Space Race.

And more info about Sweet Thieves: PC players played in servers with Crossplay turned off and because servers without Crossplay are never used, the servers glitched and gave the whole lobby a free win 90% of the time, and people abused it to get free crowns, they even used autoclickers to do it.

At one point on the PC port snow particles wouldn't show up, think it was during legacy season 4 and eventually they added it back in legacy season 5, memory is a bit hazy but I do know snow particles weren't a thing on the PC port for a while.

I do miss when they used to release maps in the middle of the season, last time they did it was in legacy season 6 with sweet thieves. Considering that since season 1s limbo period they had been working on these for years, id say it is not a huge amount of new content. Also yes as uve said, considering these maps are already in the game with only 1-2 bugs at most no idea why they don’t use their resources to fix these? Whoever is in charge at Mediatonic is doing a bad job

I really don’t know why they vault maps in the first place, like I get it, there’s bugs on them or as you stated, testing purposes, but vaulting half of them is where they crossed the line. I loved playing the space maps, and with them being gone, I kinda lose interest in this game, there’s no variety anymore and that makes this game not fun anymore.

One of the main things vaulting does is that it artificially creates content so whenever they unvault maps it's like its brand new! or especially if it's been gone for months. Like if a map is buggy or has something that causes it to not function like bubbles not spawning in bubble trouble which is the main point of the map then yeah, I get it the map is gotta go but if it has nothing wrong with it then it should be in the game.

The thing with that is, the game keeps giving the seasonal maps to the point where it's getting boring, especially as the seasons get longer. I wouldn't mind if they rotate the vaulted maps in and out of the game on a monthly basis. In customs you can play the all the maps including vaulted ones in the show called "The Vault" this wasn't a thing when I made this video.

When I made this video fall guys creative wasn't released so it was worse actually, in regards to the regular maps the number of them is still the same, so 37 in solos and 43 in squads and since duos no longer has team games it's been dropped to 37 maps. Solo's does have 57 maps in total however 20 of them are maps made in Fall guys creative, and those levels are currently only race maps.

For majority of the season I spent playing LTM's, cause in SS2 I would play solo's a lot and had a feeling the same maps would appear over and over again, however for the Lobstar League Live Event you have to play the other modes and as someone who strictly only played LTM's was nice to see some maps I haven't seen in ages cause some of them don't appear in LTM's but after a while I kept seeing the same ones pop up, only played the core modes that being solo's, squads and duo's for a short time since I finished the challenges so I didn't get too bored of them, but I could see the problems that you mentioned.

I have been getting so bored recently on my Twitch streams while playing Fall Guys. It’s good to get dubs and stuff, but Fall Guys has been giving me so many repetitive rounds. But when it's fall ball for example and other squads on my team are quitting out when the other team scores a goal it's super frustrating. I get what you mean though. Blast balls is a bad one because it doesn't recognise when there's only 2 members of the same team remaining and they decided to have a wrestling match until the last tile falls when it essentially doesn't matter as they've already won, that's annoying since you have to sit there and wait to collect rewards.

Yea I played for the first time since like 2021 and there are no maps on rotation, absolute garbage maps over and over again recycled and reused. They need to bring back tip toe, the ball rolling map on teams, fall mountain, tail tag final round needs a comeback, the themed maps like knight fever and the galaxy maps. I played 5 to 6 months with fall mountain bugging the crown when you grab it and never had an issue, it was always fun. They can fix glitches and keep maps, but it’s epic and they’re lazy af, too many games to manage right now and they’re neglecting most of them.

The worst part is, levels like Bubble Trouble and Space Race aren't even in the Vault gamemode, meaning you can't play them AT ALL. And the worst part is, they're both fun levels.

The Vault Show isn't even in the game anymore, though Bubble Trouble got removed from it a long time ago so you had no way of playing it.

You know, what I mostly miss is the team games. If some of you hates them, that's okay, you don't have love them. But they are important parts of Fall Guys. Not only they are nostalgic, but the game is repititive and boring and you always have to fight the other players, and can't chill for a moment, while your team is trying their best. Besides, all team games are fun imo. I just wish they vaulted all the Creative Season's rounds, and added back every vaulted round. And Team Games... R.I.P Team Games 2020-2022

The only team games I truly despise is Pixel Painters & Hoarders and that's cause I play with randoms as I prefer to play alone, randoms can ruin a game of Pixel Painters but I do agree team games break up the monotony and allow people who aren't as good at the other maps to have a chance at qualifying. Idk man I hate the concept of the vault so I don't want them to vault anything even the SS4 rounds, just tweak the algorithm to where it doesn't show up as much.

@@Izzytorium I actually really love Hoarders, but I do understand why people don't like it... and yeah, I absolutely despise Pixel Painters, that is the only team game I don't want in Solo Show ever. And yeah, although most maps were added back just today, from the Vault, even some team games, but I don't want them to vault anything either.

@@BritishMilkTea I remember I was playing with my friends way back in the day and we were on a 5 win streak right? we got hoarders and lost, one of my friends quit playing the game altogether absolutely hilarious 😂

I can't believe I'm at this point where I miss them but here we are
