Radahn lost because he went insane due to the scarlet rot whereas Malenia lost because while she managed to incapacitate him, she failed to actually kill him, which was her ultimate goal. Where did I get that idea? Couldn’t she just be after Radahn to get his great rune? Well first of all, she fought and defeated Godrick yet he still has his great rune. If she wanted to, she could have just taken it after defeating him yet she doesn’t, which proves she isn’t interested in gathering great runes. Second, Malenia isn’t interested in gaining power for herself rather she’s entirely devoted to helping her brother Miquella in establishing his own order. Proof of this, her name. Lastly, the only real reason I see Malenia and Radahn battling is regarding the fate of the stars. Miquella wants to either revive or let Godwyn die a true death. For this, he needs an eclipse which in Elden Ring, requires for a star and the sun to be aligned in the same position. However, Radahn is the conqueror of the stars as he had halted their movements long ago. To make the eclipse possible, Radahn needs to either release them or die. Since Radahn probably wouldn’t have agreed to do such a thing, Malenia and her army marched to Caelid to kill him. But when she realized was losing against him, that was when she bloomed, hoping it would killed him, but it only drove him mad. As the rot never actually manages to kill him, it more or less means Malenia also lost the war. The battle ended in a stalemate with both sides utterly devastated

When it comes to winning in his arena, Maliketh's chances depend on what kind of moves Malenia throws his way. Rot Bomb doesn't work so well because he can dodge the worst of it. But the Clones and Waterfowl are pretty effective. Honestly, Malenia has by far the best win rate against all bosses, she might be the only one who can even pull it off. If you run the simulation ten times, she beats everyone in one attempt at least 5 or 6 times. Meanwhile Maliketh will need a lot more attempts because he can always lose to someone.

Placidusax really has a near perfect kit against the goddess of rot. High damage fire attacks, crazy high hp/rot resistance, powerful lightning attacks that stagger/knock her down with almost every hit, and his teleportation allows him to circumvent the slowness that usually kills big bosses. It was cool seeing all that come into play here.

Holy shit I've never seen Placidusax so responsive. He usually just circles around in videos like this when fighting small enemies like Malenia here. But bruh here we see him jumping, lunging, raining down lightning and fire, teleporting, and his Thundercloud Forms were so on point. Even the Placidusax's Ruin was spot on. I agree though I would put it this way , placi seems more like a glass cannon. The sheer amount of power he holds even at that age is ridiculous. Midirs fight felt like he was physically stronger . Moving around tons , ranking hits and never staggering. It didn’t have the same power as placi but it felt more like a adult dragon , compared to placi which is an old wise dragon , that still holds all the power he got over the years l. Both are awesome fights. They always outdo them selves dragon wise in the dlc so good lord knows what coming for us! 😊

Actually, the first Faram Azula Dragon you encounter usually fares better than Placidusax in these boss vs boss fights, ironically enough. Placidusax is just a stationary, massive hitbox with slow attacks and no poise. Meanwhile, the Faram Azula dragons have more poise, a smaller hitbox and they're much more mobile.

A lot of these fights had excellent moments, with Malenia utilizing her brief flight to dodge several attacks, along with tactically selecting the best move for an occasion. In my opinion, the greatest example of this was the Maliketh fight, where Malenia flew high and used the clone move to not just dodge Maliketh's leaping, ground-stabbing explosion, but to bait him into the air current of Scarlet Rot that utterly shredded his health. You got the clones to actually appear outside of Malenia's arena too, which is a nice touch. There were also moments where her foes displayed great skill, such as Placidusax being a competitive opponent throughout as opposed to using his lasers as a crutch. The God-Devouring Serpent/Rykard fight felt built around the Rancor storm and the Scarlet Rot effect possibly happening, and each aspect appeared in full force without being immediate. The Radahn fight was close even with his centuries or millennia of suffering from Scarlet Rot, and could have been closer or a win if his full sniping range could be implemented without bosses failing to aggro. The Astel fight had a great moment where Malenia took flight and narrowly dodged Astel's gravity pincer grab, a move that can seemingly do over 2,000 damage to even high-level players, and the Fire Giant fight included Malenia wisely targeting the weak leg and some of both sides' best moves, and it was down to the wire. The walk up for the Gideon battle was nicely shot for his speech and the immediate grab to start the battle, and the Godfrey fight had the very last hit of Waterfowl Dance switch to the Hoarah Loux phase, which also featured neat grab cancels. There was one thing I found very strange though. The Elden Beast's grab attack hit Malenia spot on, but she just went flying instead of being grabbed. Everyone else's grabs worked, even the grabs that are more dependent on target size (Ex: Malenia's grab) than lore-implied grabbing skill (Ex: Hoarah Loux ripping Serosh in half), so it was weird that this giant space being's grab, which is almost like a black hole to boot, didn't work. The Elden Beast also tried its close range galaxy explosion from across the map. I know the boss is seemingly glitched in the normal game to try sword swings from across the map that would never hit a player, but I haven't seen the galaxy explosion tried from so far away before. Overall, this was a excellent series of fights, and you captured some amazing events and great plans being utilized by Malenia and the other bosses! I appreciate that you included Rennala's first phase too, which many KZbin channels usually skip over, and I'm thankful that you kept Radagon and the Elden Beast as phases of the same fight, just like in the actual game. The Elden Beast is providing Radagon that black energy for his damaged body in Phase 1, so the Elden Beast is indeed present for both Phases. The only notable absent boss was Fortissax, and while Malenia would probably defeat him with ease, it still would have been nice to see him show up. Anyway, thanks for your videos!
