naah Cannibal Holocaust is top of the list, also this movie take heavy inspiration from a comic series called "Crossed" by Garth Ennis(the Boys) and Jacen Burrows. In the comics its sort of a disease that spread that makes people act out their wildest and most evil ideas, basically the switch for morality, right and wrong is turned off in the brain.

I love this movie so much. And as a Taiwanese, I am very proud that foreign directors are willing to come here to make such an excellent film; I am even more proud that this Taiwanese film can be watched by excellent fans like you.

I just realised that the subway scene where the guy is asking if he broke the record is a ref to an irl incident where a man attacked people in a subway in Taiwan (he killed 4 people and hurt 20 more others)

I watched The Sadness with a friend when it got a theatrical release in France and we both left the movie theater utterly shocked, but totally WTF-ed by the watch. I did read Crossed in 2011 and I do think the fans of the comic will greatly enjoy The Sadness.

The title is read cow-pay in Taiwanese, although the direct translation is "cry in sadness" but the pronunciation sounded like "wtf" or "obnoxiously disturbed"... Lol

I think the whole point of the movie was making the worst Zombie virus ever. Normally Zombies are dead bodies so it's easy to not feel when you finish them. Also it's not that bad if you turn because you're not alive anymore. This movie is horrifying because you are fully aware of everything you are doing but you're aggression, sexual drive and imagination are breaking it's limits and the need to kill is like breathing air or blinking. You can do nothing but cry when you're a zombie. Being attacked by family and friends would be the worse because they are aware of what they are doing to you but can't help it. You can see when the bf was talking at the end with the gf that it is himself talking and he does love her but then the need to "breath/blink" happens and he instantly says he wants to skin her. This movie is definitely my favourite as a zombie concept. Most horrifying one ever created. Also fyi the gf did turn at the end. It's like Covid how some people are more resistant than others but everyone can still catch it. She was a fighter.

I recommend the Iko Uwais film after the punk The Raid, maybe you will like it, namely "headshot". This film was released in 2016, and what is certain is that it is the same as Iko Uwais films in general, enough to increase adrenaline. good luck 😉

Most goriest movie I've ever seen. Def something unique and interesting. A real world zombie apocalypse won't be a fairy tale. This movie showed the offensive aspect of that world, something which is more likely to happen.

I disagree with the notion that sexual assault didnt contribute to anything in the film. The concept of a zombie archetype that compulsively commits violent sex crimes to spread the disease and torment their victims is one of the most horrific things imaginable, which is why the eye rape scene was so iconic, and the most interesting part is the buisnessman never shed a single tear throughout the film. Rabies causes hypersexualization, with an additional lack of inhibition you could imagine the results. All the rape and SA scenes were implied, they never actually showed the actual act. Had they actually shown all that stuff I would 100% agree, but because it was implied i dont think the presentation was overly gratuitous. Its not just vulgarity for the sake of shock, its our deepest fears and acts we as humans hate the most that incite the most powerful responses of terror. I respect your opinion but I really appreciate the movie for what it is, removing the sexual violence would just have made it a gratuitously violent version of the Crazies. Lastly Im not defending sexual violence if that wasnt clear. Im defending the right to imply sexual violence in a film to convey a horrible situation and incite a powerful emotional response. Its based off of The Crossed which is an even more vulgar and brutal comic book. If you can stomach it, youll experience actual unessessary gore and sexual abuse/rape (especially the later issues which I dont much care for).

Well you're boring. It's all obviously fake with the over the top blood and rubber. The point is to show how violent the zombie virus is. These aren't you're typical flesh eating zombies. I'm guessing you don't like slasher movies like the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie? That had the same stuff with creative kills. (also they didn't show it with the eye thing)
