For interest sake, we designed a prototype out of aluminium. The final weight was just too heavy compared to the (super light) final carbon fibre/pet composite material we settled on. As for the distance between the camera body and the camera base - we increased it based on feedback from the first version, as people wanted more space to tuck cables in (particularly the voltage regulation box for the USB-C cable). We're glad you're enjoying the rig!

Hey, sweet rig, great to see you breaking it down not sure what device you are using to record audio but if you didn't know you can hear the lawn mower in the background I can highly recommend the dji mics for iphone recording it will cut out any background noise within reason. Great work keep it up! cant wait to see more videos from you!! you have a new sub :)

Thank you! Yeah i mentioned it when recording when that started, but i cut it out. In no way are these vlogs supposed to be well produced or fancy. But I’ll consider it for next time! Thank you for viewing!

I spent longer than id like to admit wondering why the camera was upside down before I realised that the video was just horizontally flipped.

your video is the wrong way you must have recorded in selfie mode on iphone?

I wouldn’t recommend getting an MKH 416, or any shotgun mic for that matter, as your camera microphone. Instead, you should consider a hypercardioid, such as the MKH 50. The problem with shotgun mics is that they’re difficult to balance on a camera rig due to their size and long interference tube, and add a lot of bulk to your rig, and your camera is not necessarily going to be perfectly on-axis with your talent. Hypercardioids are more forgiving; while still directional, you don’t have to be perfectly on axis, and voices sound more natural even when off-axis. They also balance much easier on a camera rig and don’t add too much bulk. There aren’t a ton of budget friendly hypercardioids out there like there are shotguns, but there are a few, such as the Audix SCX1-HC.

thanks for the info! i think i do remember hearing about those mics a while ago. So that'll be my next one! thanks

I’m contemplating buying this but the only thing I’m worried about is powering the fx3 with a dummy battery. With the latest firmware update Ik people are saying that they’re getting an error when they connect it. Also I don’t want to use usbc because of the power drain and the potential of the port possibly breaking. Have you had any issues while using a dummy battery also do you recommend I power using either dummy battery or usb c or just having a bunch of regular Sony batteries.
@Daviddrentbronner6 ай бұрын
I did have concerns using a dummy battery as well. But as long as you get the one from kondor blue, you won’t have any issues.
@imeffff6 ай бұрын
@@Daviddrentbronner are you on the latest firmware update? Because I heard that’s what’s been causing the problem. If your camera is on the latest update and you aren’t having any issues with the Kondor blue battery I’m going to buy one of these rigs asap

Hey, just curious. Why did you end up selling your ninja V? Is pro res too cumbersome to edit with? Thanks 🎉 nice breakdown
@Daviddrentbronner6 ай бұрын
I totally understand if the features for recording it has is something you want. But I don’t find myself needing any of the recording features, but why I sold it is because 24/7 it has a small fan running, and that sound would always interfere with my shotgun, mic that was next to it.
@benjamin.kelley6 ай бұрын
The Ninja V also has a terrible magenta/red color cast/shift as well. Not as bad on the Shinobi, but they still need calibrated, and that requires another expensive Atamos piece of gear.
@Daviddrentbronner6 ай бұрын
@@benjamin.kelley thanks for the info! Yeah it sucks for that. But still a solid piece of gear!! Even smallHD needs to be calibrated lol

But why making a fx3 big as a fx6? Only advantage of the fx3 compared to the fx6 is the size.. honest question, don’t want to hate
@Daviddrentbronner6 ай бұрын
All good, no hate taken haha. Aside from the FX6 being out of my budget range. This is just one way I rig my fx3. If I have the time, I’ll rip it down to the body and top handle and just use the Sony batteries, but sometimes I don’t want to deal with the battery change. The FX6 you need to have the monitor that comes with it at all times. Plus I don’t have the option to break it down smaller, kinda like you said. Sometimes I want a big heavy rig, sometimes I just want the body and handle, which I do occasionally
@filmandframeca6 ай бұрын
Probably versatility. You can build up an FX3 to the size and “Rig-ability” of an FX6 when you need to and then tear it down when you need something compact and inconspicuous. You can build up an FX6 but you can’t tear it down to be compact like the FX3.

I’m gonna be honest it seems like you have no idea what you are talking about. Can’t take off your handle, calling the screw on your matte box a little twisty guy, saying uhhh after almost any product. Disrespecting Caleb Pike by not naming him, just say “the Camera Foundery guy, I forgot what his name is”. Saying the display shows the “power or volts left or whatever”, you need to make a script and more sure about what you are speaking on. This video is horrible and I mean that will respect

I got the FX30 when I was 18-19 as well. You got this bro. Make sure to buy full frame glass so you won’t have to upgrade lenses when you get the fx3. I used it for a while, took me maybe another year to get the fx3. And I ain’t rich, I just knew if I invested into the fx3 I would be very happy with it for a long time.
