Have been watching your videos for about a year now. And, about 3 months ago I bought my first tractor, a Kubota L3901! Your videos greatly influenced my buying decision, especially all the videos regarding fluid & filter changes and routine maintenance. I recently purchased the leveling box after reviewing this video about a dozen times and experiencing the difficulty adjusting my box blade with the stock link, very difficult! This video, as are all of your videos, excellent!! The install went smoothly and works just as easily as you demonstrated is video. One of the best decisions I’ve made so far!! My only difficulty was grinding out the inner yoke. Man, did that take some blood, sweat and tears! Started with a grinder, and then finished it with a flat file. Looks great and works perfectly. I also appreciated the discount from supplier!! Thank you, for all the time and effort that you put into making these wonderful and practical videos. I look forward to each and every one, and usually end up watching some over and over again. Keep up the excellent work!

I purchased this leveling box for my L2501 primarily to use with the box blade and grader blade. You were right in that it doesn't fit over the arm. I took mine to a machine shop and had it milled for clearance. Also had them angle the yoke to match the angle on the original leveling rod. Fits and works nicely, although the machine work and welding cost me $175. With what the new box cost, I now have $335 invested in this setup.
@DIYMyWay2 жыл бұрын
Glad you were able to have it modified but yikes! That’s a big investment! You could have bought an angle grinder and disk and ground down the inside of the yoke for a lot less than $175. I have found the slight angle doesn’t matter. Best of luck with your leveling box and thanks for watching!

Thanks for your video. I have a 1985 tractor. The previous owner only used a belly mower for a large yard. He never used the 3 point hitch. The leveling box works, but it’s slow. When I cranked it to the top, I started feeling resistance about 2 inches from the top. It must be dried grease on the threads. I will have to take it apart and clean it. The tractor is in immaculate condition. It had the factory spring holding the lift arms together. It never had sway chains on it. Your video showed me how to take the box apart and inspect it. Thanks!

Been following your page now for a few weeks and love your videos. I purchased the leveling box from All State Ag supply and found it worked exactly as you described. Your videos and site are excellent. But just a public service announcement here to keep others from doing as I did. I ordered the level box part from Weavers and found it (as mentioned) ‘snug’ at the fork. So I used a small hand grinder to allow for a better fit (also mentioned). It would then slip over the Kubota 3pt arm ok, but still a little snug to get the holes to line up-gave it very light tap which made it line up the holes just fine, but when I took it back off, the factory weld was now cracked at the fork. I figured well that’s on me, so I ordered a second one from Weavers to proceed (I didn’t think I could send them back the one I had run the grinder on). And when I went to install it, it became very apparent that something must have changed in Turkish manufacturing-there was no way this was ever going to fit, from the angles. When I called Weavers to send back the unused and never modified 2nd one, I was told there would be a 20% restocking fee even if it had not been opened. So others, if you try this, be aware that the new batch (at least from Weavers) doesn’t seem do-able now, no matter how you modify it. The forks don’t seem to be ‘long enough’ (or deep enough) now. And Weavers will want to charge you 20% restocking fee, EVEN IF THE BOX THEY HAD SENT YOU IS UNOPENED.

Thank you very much! I may do a video on that one day. My approach is that when it signals it wants to regen, I rev it up to 2500 RPM and let it regen and I just keep doing what I’m doing. An exception is if I happen to be right at the end of working and about to put up the tractor, I’ll hit the cancel button. It will remind me to regen next time I use it. In theory you can’t hurt it, because it will only let you cancel so many times before it just starts a regen anyway. In almost 500 hours of operation, I have not been inconvenienced by it and I’ve never had a problem with it either. Hope this helps!

@@DIYMyWay Thanks for your reply. I was having trouble getting the regen process to complete especially when i first got it. I called the dealer and they walked me through it. They told me if i had cut the engine off 3 times before regen had completed its mission that i would have to bring it in for a reset. So guess I'm just a little cautious. Just wondering how everybody was doing the parked regen and which way is the most efficient parked or working it. Seems it always wants to regen at the most inconvenient times lol.

I really enjoy your videos, but this is one of those things my personal usage patterns don't really justify. If plowing, I set level for first pass, then angle as appropriate for the rest of the job. Same with blade work. But if one is adjusting constantly, then this is appropriate. As far as the odd sized pins, try measuring them in metric - then they might make more sense. My Branson uses mostly 'Merican sized pins, but a couple of spots use a 16mm pin, which you aren't going to find outside of the dealer.

That’s surprising! If the one I used won’t work for you, perhaps you can find one that closely matches the travel range of your turnbuckle side link and modify it. Of course, paint it JD green afterward! Good luck!

Thanks!! I have been looking for this for three long years. What PITA as stock. Question, can one of these be also modded to use on the top link to change the blade angle of the box scraper? That would rock.
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
I believe so and have considered trying it, but the range extension may not be enough and the gear mechanism and handle would be in tight quarters where the top link connects to the tractor. Thanks for watching!

My Kubota L3130 came with a 3-point leveling box (p/n: HTD00-39500).
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it! Are you sure that’s the right part number? I Googled the part number and there are no pictures of it anywhere and the description is “ASSY ROD” and the price is over $640, so if it is a levelling, it’s obscenely overpriced. Far cheaper to buy a third party unit and modify if needed. Thanks for watching!
@jepomer3 жыл бұрын
@@DIYMyWay I found the part number on Messicks website. The diagram listed that part number as the assembly. Price was "appropriate" at over $580 probably for the whole 3-point assembly. www.messicks.com/ku/85318

What manufacturers really need to do is add a standard 1/2" hex head on these extension type add-ons so anything cn be adjusted with a small drill or impact driver.
@tomtillman3 жыл бұрын
i got one, not this exact one, but it's too hard to crank going up. didn't work. I did top and tilt instead. The total of the parts I gathered together was around $1140. The local kubota dealer quoted me 3k for a T&T kit, just the parts.

DIY you have a great videos!! I have a question for you. Have you ever researched a telescoping lift arm for an L3301 kubota. I saw on your leveling box vid it look liked you were using the pats hook boxes. Does kubota offer a telescoping lift arms as a part? Some implements can be a pain to hook up to. I tried the pats units and didn’t like them too much. Would appreciate your information on this Thanks Doug
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, I never did, but I am aware that some tractors have them. I don’t know if Kubota makes a telescoping lift arm for the L series. There might be a third party maker that does. The Pat’s have worked really well for me and are less of a hassle than a quick hitch since there is no true standard for “quick hitch compatible”. Thanks for watching!

How's she goin'? That's a neat addition. It sure would make setting up the 3 point attachment a lot easier. I think I'll check them out. What do you think about one like that for the top link too? I tend to adjust the top link way more. Maybe this would be good there to!!! Thanks for posting and have a great day buddy!!!
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! I thought of that, and I think it would be strong enough for it but I’m not sure there is enough range of motion. Also, it would need some serious modifications that can only be done with a welder. Once I have the shop built I’ll get a welder and that will be one of my projects. I have a few other ideas about the leveling box that might show up in a future video.

Hi! Wonderful video! I've been looking for a leveling box for my RK24. The shorter one at Weavers is too long, but it's the shortest one I've found so far. The left side is 15" long. I've been looking at your photographs and wondering if shortening each piece by an inch or so would work to make usable. Do you think that is feasible, having taken it apart and examined it? (I'm not talking about shortening the inner rod of the top piece, just the outer part.) Thanks!
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Tom! You might have to cut the inner threaded rod also to keep it from bottoming out in the lower piece. You’d just have to experiment with it but in principle it seems you could shorten it enough. Thanks for watching!

Hi Sunjay! I recommend you get the leveling box when you get a box blade. It will make setting your side-to-side tilt angle MUCH easier. It's great for box blades, scrape blades and rakes that you tilt while using the implement. Thanks for watching!

Hey DIY I’m a Proud new owner of a L3901 (28hrs) with a BH77. Your videos have been very helpful! I recently removed the backhoe and have been doing box blade work. I’m having trouble keeping my power beyond hydraulic line out of my 3 point side link. It’s actually starting to chew into the line after only 10 hrs of box blade work. It looks like yours is secured with a bracket to the top link pin. Is this something you made or did your tractor come with it? Just curious on how backhoe owners deal with this. I know I’m going to have HD2 spraying everywhere if I don’t get this squared away. I apologize if you’ve already addressed this in a video. I real appreciate your videos...you helped me get through a long winter in KY...lol
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
Congrats on becoming a fellow L3901 owner! Yes the Power Beyond hose abrasion is a design flaw. First get some 3/4 plastic wire loom and cut a length to go over the hose. It will provide good protection. For the long run I’m going to redesign their coupler bracket on the right rear axle so that the hose is not in harms way. Stay tuned for a video on that fix. Thanks for watching!

DIY My Way in the video I believe you said the top hole on the leveling box was 7/8 but weaver say 13/16. Just so you know weaver sells a bushing that is 7/8 OD x 3/4 ID x 1.5” in length. They threw it in with my leveling link. It was under $4 and no additional shipping cost. I should be able to press it in and not have to cut any length off.

Well i finally got around to ordering this leveling box today. So now I'm looking for the brass bushings. Im wondering about the length to get as i want to make sure i get it right. I found some that is same as you describe id and os diameter, so just want to make sure on the length. Again thank you so much for all your helpful information. WEAVER should also be thankful as I'm sure their sales have increased since you posted this video. and i probably would not have known about this modification and how to go about it except for it..

Thank you for the kind comments, 6stringer01! Glad you found the thread with Jerry for your answer!
@jerrymerritt32775 жыл бұрын
6stringer01 the bushing is 1.5 inches in length. Mine arrived today and I installed it in about 5 minutes or less. I used my tractor pin and a dead blow hammer to install the bushing. Took about 3 medium strikes and it was in. As Dave mentioned the bottom fork was a bit snug. I did not grid mine. It slipped over the three point arm about and inch. I rocked the leveling arm back and forth to open the fork ever so slightly and it dropped right on. I installed the pins and I’m up and running. I’d attach a picture but don’t know how. You can email me if you’re like for a picture. Jerrymerritt92@gmail.com.

Hi Chris! Sorry, but I wouldn't part with it. It's too valuable. Also, I'm not in the business of modifying and selling them.
