I have all old implements so Pats was the answer for me too. The "stabilizer" bar is usually in the way. I never use it.

I have the Pat's Quick hitch and must say that it is far superior to not having one. I went with Pat's since I have multiple implements that are not quick hitch compatible. One added advantage I've found is that I have more room to get in there to hook up the PTO shaft when necessary. I used a permanent marker on the adjustable spacer rod to help speed up setting the proper width for each particular implement. I take it off and leave it at the tractor shed. Have fun using it.

Another plus to Pat's vs a quick hitch is that you don't have the "frame" of the quick hitch in your way when trying to hook up the PTO. Creates a lot more space to wrestle with the PTO shaft.

My rotary cutter is my only quick hitch compatible attachment. I don’t have any “quick hitch” system myself. Mounting attachments can be a pain, but you do get better at it with practice. My tractor has a leveling box for easily adjusting the height of the right 3-point arm. Thats a feature I don’t see on tractors today. In fact, watching you struggle to reconnect your rotary cutter when your 3 point arm came off the tractor inspired my most recent video on the usefulness of a 3-point leveling box as opposed to the threaded rod style leveling adjustment.

I had the Pat's for a few years. I found that when using them, I was jumping on and off the tractor just as much as I was without them. I Sold them and went to a quick hitch, which I like much better. Also know that If do go with either Pat's or a QH, you will need to buy a PTO extension if you're running anything like a mower or tiller.

With the adjustable links on the 2601 you don’t really need the stabilizer bar you can just set your pins, i threw mine in a drawer day one, I bought a longer top link for my tractor which is bigger and easier to use from tractor supply I use a old piece of bungee cord ( one with multiple holes) to hold larger top link in holder when not using an implement, the only issue I’ve had with my pats is when implement is beating around on rough ground the linchpins will pop open I’m thinking of sticking bolts with locknuts through them so they are permenent

Interesting. I lost a linch pin yesterday. But it was also undersized. I’ll keep an eye on that!

Hey Ed, here is a tip for you: Get a couple of those long garage “twist ties” and run through the latch and around your3 point arms. This prevents the latch from bouncing open….and they will! Don’t ask me how I know!😮

Ed, Thank you for posting. You have inspired me to get moving to install my set. When I broke my ankle last May everything was put on hold. My set of Pat's has been collecting dust since last May. I have been procrastinating since January until i decide what length hydraulic top link to order to match with Pat's QH. Now is the time for me to get it installed. I'm curious what length you needed to extend your Top Link to for the setup you just demonstrated today. PS: Yes, the StayBar only stays on to get your implement pins alignment. Once it's attached then the StayBar gets removed as you indicated. It will easily get bent if left in place. Thanks, Dan 😊

Thanks Dan. I’m going to pick up a longer top link. Probably 2” linger will be fine.

How's she goin'? The Pat's Quick Hitch is a nice helper for hooking up. To me the biggest plus for this system is it will adapt to just about any attachment. The down side is like you mentioned, a little more fiddling to hook up. I guess each system is good, but not ideal!! Thanks for this review. Thank you for making this video and introducing the Pat's Easy Change system. Great video quality, audio is excellent as well. Your explanations are clear and efficient. I appreciate that most of all. I'm still such a newbie to tractors! Can you explain what's meant by category 1 and 2?
@MyClutteredGarage9 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! If you have a compact or subcompact tractor, you will have category one attachments. That’s the diameter of the pins that attached to the arms of the three-point hitch. Generally smaller than 1 inch is category one, and larger than 1 inch is category 2. Thank you for your kind comments! -Ed

I recently swapped from a quick hitch to the pat's easy change. I too have a few attachments that aren't quick-hitch compatible and I was getting annoyed by that. Also, on my 40hp, I couldn't reach the quick hitch levers to lock the hitch anyway, so I was already getting off the tractor to lock the implement. QH's are probably great for people with smaller tractors that can reach the QH from the seat and don't have a lot of attachments.

It looks like a very good system although the alignment bolts do seem a bit long which I guess is to enable it to fit lots of different tractors. I think I would be swapped those out with shorter bolts

The Pats Easy Hitch was one of the first additions to my tractor. I love it, and am sure you will too. Do remember to remove the stabilizer bar when using a PTO driven implement. I store mine next to my seat. I love that it will fit all widths of 3-point implements, old and new.

nice vids. just subscribed! question: if i dont have a quick hitch nor a Pat's, I will assume I would only need to get a Pat's, as the quick hitch would just be redundant?? i.e does a Pat's do everything a quick hitch does but with any implement, whereas a qucik hitch may not work for all the implements one may have? (I have a 49 HP Kubota and a backhoe, brush hog and a box blade only.)

I have a set of the Pat’s hitch units. They were never reliable and let my brush hog fall off. After the third attempt I just gave up. Also the hook is too big to allow me to use them with my old cultivator as the placement of the pins was too close to the main cross member. Also the instructions about the spacer rod is extremely confusing. I bent mine the first time I tried to use it.

The only issue I see with a small hp tractor is. The pats puts the load back another 4” past the factory hitch point which would lower the lift capacity. Let me know or do a video lifting the max with and without.

Im not sure this will work with my land pride box blade and some other land pride attachments. it don't have the pins sticking out, it has a 2 peace fork that the lower arms have to go into, then you put the pin in. this quick hitch would be too wide to fit in it looks like. But looks like it works great on attachments with pins sticking out.
