So easy to work on except for the stupid plastic coolant elbows that run back and forth from the heater core actually through the tensioner housing for some reason. And the serpentine belt is a pain. OH, and the LeSabre trans were not so reliable, but I did put a rebuilt in a '98 LeSabre with only 115k miles on it. It's my son's car now with 185K. Just bought a grand prix gt last week. Gonna reinforce the transmission and slap a rear mounted turbo on it. Sleeper.

My work beater is a 230k 06 gt grand prix supercaharged. Never skips a beat and its loaded with leather, heated seats, remote start. You name it. Best work car ive ever owned. just sucks I live in Minnesota.

Them engines were great. That trans were doggs. The fwd drive is a headscratcher. Very cool example. Thanks 4 your time

Been in multiple of these. One friend had a few, the crappy painted blue one had a pvc intake and bald tires. Always managed to scare me with the torque steer haha

The only thing that limits these 3800 cars from being even more of a threat is the lack of affordable automatic transmission upgrades for this car. Even the expensive auto upgrades are dying off due to people giving up on the platform.

I loved the torque steer in my big turbo speed 3. There's just something special about having the steering wheel jerked to one side when you do a 60 roll
@stenooo24392 ай бұрын
I feel like a twin charged setup could be really good for drifting. Instant torque with a ton of midrange, plenty of power to beat the limiter too. Maybe I’m wrong but it would be cool to build a twin charged drift car

Man growing up my grandma had a silver 98 supercharged gtp and I knew as a little boy that car was special. I’ll never forget that car with the chrome wheels and the black leather interior lol I can still hear exactly how it sounded and that was almost 20 years ago

Needs AWD any options for older fwd gms? And some better control arms or sway bars that torque steer can be fixed
@That_Handle16 күн бұрын
Am curious myself. With GM's feasibility studies/experiments with AWD and 4-wheel steering tucked into testbed Fieros and Chevy Berettas tested with AWD (w/ a turbo V6?), I'm curious if a table of AWDrivetrains exists for cross-referencing feasibilities across plat.s

I worked for a guy, an old construction guy from West Virginia, who is really into cars. He had one of these when I first started working for him. It was a rocket ship for sure. Never forgot that car always wanted one.

My friend in highschool had a GTP with a ported blower and a cam. It was an amazing car. Looked great drove super smooth and was a burnout king. He could punch it and smoke the tires down the entire street

Had a GTP. Ran to 180k miles until the transmission starting sheering itself. Changing the tranny fluid looked like a metal flake paint job! Loved that car so much and used so many ZZP parts!

Honestly one of my child hood dream cars! I road in one that literally roasted tires like we were driving on ice too easily... My uncle has the gxp and that car is stupid scary we passed someone one day and when he punched it to pass it lit the tires at 55 mph these cars are insane for there time

In my early 20s I had a GTP and absolutely loved that car, had cam, headers, forged pistons, and exhaust done on it, and had been tuned. I don’t remember what the power on it was as my dad did most of the work on the car. My dad had a basically identical Regal GS. Both cars were an absolutely blast to drive and would absolutely smoke most of the other sporty cars in our town.

Don't think I've ever seen a twincharged 3.8 Buick. That's crazy. Must be a moderate setup too because these will make well into the high triple digits for horsepower when cranked up.
