Oliver, I really enjoyed your video. Thank you very much very well put together very well edited. I am flying from Australia in August purchasing Ktm 890 Adventure R and traveling through Europe for 8 to 10 weeks. I’m hoping to do some of the roads that I’ve seen in your video. we don’t have roads like this in Australia nor do we have the views I’m really looking forward to it. Over the next few weeks I’m sure I’ll get through the rest of your back catalog of videos. 👍
@MotoVibes9 ай бұрын
Thank your very much for your nice feedback. Sounds like a great adventure you are looking forward to in Europe. I assume you will also be tackling offroad tracks here in Europe considering that you will be purchasing a 890 Adventure R. There are a few but good places to ride in the West Alps - they are spectacular as they often follow old military roads. All of the Balkans are a good place to take your bike off the pavement. If you are planning to go north Norway is a great country to visit - even if you can just make it to the south-west corner of the country. I have videos on all of these places on this channel if you want get some inspiration. Depending on how well you plan your tours there are a few resources I can recommend to ensure you hit as many highlights as you can - 10 weeks seems like a lot but I am they will be over too quick. Offroad tracks are a bit harder to find in Europe as there many countries that have restrictions - the eastern Europe is better in this regards. The Adventure Country Tracks are a good resource - similar to the American BDR these are roads suitable for dual-cyclinder adventure bikes. The Trans Euro Trail is the most comprehensive catalog of more than 90,000 km of track with a focus on off-road tracks - they can be ridden with an adventure bike but some section may only be passable with a smaller enduro bike depending on your skills and the weather of course. Last but not least I have a few tour package on my website www.motovibes.de including some off-road tracks. Since you will be starting your tour in August you may want to consider starting in the north and than head south as the weather is better in the south in the fall. Anyway - I am very excited for you and I hope you will have a great time in Europe! - cheers, Oliver

@@MotoVibes Oliver do you mind if I ask you a question. Could you recommend the correct maps for traveling around Europe for a Garmin Tread? I’m touring mostly Road for eight weeks, between August October this year, but in 2025 I would like to do the Trans European trail and as much off-road as I can. What do you recommend as I’m using topo maps for Australia at the moment on my Tread. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@MotoVibes9 ай бұрын
@@CaptinCrash321 As far as I know the Garmin Tread also includes a form of OSM Maps - these are especially useful for off-road riding as some tracks are not listed in Garmin's own map material. There is a way to get OSM Maps on a Garmin navigation unit using the following OSM Maps (it a German site but the language is English) - it is a bit fidely and you need to find some guidance on how to load OSM maps on a Garmin device but these are the maps that I use on my Zumo XT when I am off-road www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/garmin/en/index.html

Oliver I really like your videos and the talk. Would you be willing to share your video set-up with me? Cameras. drones, settings, microphone choices, software. I have some of the YOur sound is very good which makes the videos better. I don’t quite understand the settings that make for good visuals. I’m researching the drones for B-roll. I don’t quite get how it flys autonomously and keeps you in the frame.

As for the editing software. I use Davinci Resolve. The basic version is free and does 90% of what I use and a good place to start if you intend to get your editing to the next level. There are so many tutorials on KZbin to get you started with Davinci but it is a bit of a time commitment to goes through this learning curve depending on your previous experience with editing software

I need your suggestions for buying the ktm 1290 super adventure bike or should not i buy? I need your thoughts about the bike or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance
@MotoVibes9 ай бұрын
I have an total of 100.000 km on the 1290 Super Adventure series across 3 different bikes with absolutely zero issues until I experienced the critical engine damage of my current 1290 SAR. So far I think this is a rare issue as the LC8 engine is considered to be very robust. Would I buy this bike again now? Yes, I would as still love everything about it for what I am asking of my motorcycle right now. If it is right one for you is best experienced during an extended test ride - take it out for a day if you have the chance. See if you like it. Alternatives are BMW and Ducati‘s large adventure bike offerings. The BMW is a fantastic and versatile bike equally at home on the road and off the pavement. The Ducati is probably the sportiest of the bunch with a stronger road focus but you can do some light off-road riding with it. Try the BMW and Ducati too. After you test ridden them all your gut feeling will likely point you to your favorite amongst the big 3. cheers Oliver

I have been meaning to make a video - just haven't gotten around to it yet - the short answer is - I do not know - KTM replaced the entire engine without the shop even opening the engine - so the dealer and I do not know what caused this. My understanding is that this is rather rare - especially given the low milage.

@@MotoVibes that’s true. I live in the United States. I do not own a car. I am 77. in the United States, I drive a 2018 BMW GS adventure half the year I spend in Europe where I have a Yamaha T7 hundred. Which I think is the perfect bike for Europe. That bike has torque everywhere. The BMW, amazingly, does not. When you’re off road, you need torque at very low RPMs. At any rate, I spend a whole lot of time in the Alps. I ride alone which is lonely but I ride fast and from pricks in Audi on the Thruway in Portugal the most dangerous thing on the road is the guy you’re riding with. The guy I used to ride with has been dead for 10 years, unfortunately, and I have never found anybody, other than Paul French, who is both fast and safe. Two years ago I did the Isle of Man course at 4 o’clock in the morning on my Yamaha. 45 minutes! That summer I was also in Morocco in the Atlas mountains, where there are potholes as big as bathtubs and roads that were being carved out years ago, but for some reason the work stopped, and there’s just decaying machinery and piles of gravel around. That, and going through the French alps on balcony Road with water seeping out of the inside wall, and across the road on outside turns with no meaningful retainer on the outside and a thousand foot drop were the most challenging, purportedly paved roads I’ve ever been on! Doing the Italian islands this year, then to Tunisia. I am grateful that fortune has enabled me to do these things at this age. My life has been mortised between two generations that do not understand me. Both my parents and my children worry and tell me to be careful!

@@Thisguyhere1828 thank you very much- it’s really nice to know that my video have inspired you 😉 as you seem to know my videos well this is indeed the first and only issue I have had after a combined mileage of more than 100,000 km with the three 1290 SA. As the engine was not opened by the dealer and sent back to the factory no one really knows the actual cause. However I have since spoken to an expert who does many of the KTM engine repairs in Germany who has confirmed that engine damages of the 1290 SA are rare from his point of view. I also hoping to get a video with this expert to fill in the picture as I think that this could be interesting for some. Ride safe and stay awesome 🤙 Oliver
