What an absolutely lovely video, thank you Emily and Sean! I recently rode this bike, the Triple Black version with ASA for 1h20m, and it was remarkable. Rode the latest S 1000 XR after it for an hour, and with Oslo November coolness around, I felt warmly cocooned on the R 1300 GSA while the XR is more brutal, egotistic in its agility and racing-quality brakes. Add the front side bags on the R 1300 GSA, and it's beyond being cocooned even. This is one perfect bike IMHO, great to hear you concur.

Hi Sean and Emily. Well i can completely mirror and agree with all you have said about this amazing bike. I took delivery of my triple black 1300 GSA 3 weeks ago. It is the best bike I’ve ever ridden and you guys have said everything about it, smooth, comfortable and very familiar oh! And very fast. I actually think BMW should just give you one to use, you are a great ambassador to the brand and would do them proud. Ive been waiting for this video for a while now and what a smashing job you’ve made of it. Nice one…kind regards. PS…Just got myself an action camera too…hee hee.

Hi Beans! Always nice to hear from you 😊. Thanks for confirming our feelings towards this bike, we didn’t expect it to be this good and as you say it might be the best bike they’ve ever made. It’s felt incredibly sporty when necessary, comfortable for cruising and I’m confident it handles just the same as the R1300 GS does off road. We would okay with a gifted GSA 😁 -BMW Switzerland have been very supportive of us with letting us use there media bikes and hopefully we will be able to take it out again before the real winter comes. It’s cool you got your GSA so soon, you’re going to gave so many awesome rides on it and great you’ve got an action cam too 😎🙌🏻. This will be great! Get Emily, 'G wagon esque', lol. Apparently the shaft drive has been redesigned and has completely eliminated the issues that some GS owners have had in the past so if one were to consider one of these as a long term ownership proposition it's something worth considering! I actually love the colours of this bike, I think triple black is a bit dull and the black bike isn't always so visible to other road users, sorry guys! Before making a commitment try the ‘auto’ version, it can still be ridden in manual mode where engine braking is vital on those slow, steep descents! Those that have tried the auto version have been mighty Impressed! As always, great video footage, commentary and drone footage, thanks a bunch for sharing this with us! 😀👏👍🏍🦦
@SeanandEmilyАй бұрын
Hi Anton, haha the GSA is now hangars worthy with its G wagon vibes 😁. There certainly have been some dramatic improvements which is great considering a lot of other brands don’t dramatically changed their new release models. As their flagship bike a lot of thought goes into these bikes - only for people to only care about the looks 😁. Interesting point about the shaft drive -will have to look into that. We actually really like the trophy colours but personally think the triple black looks cool - but yeah get the visibility thing (fortunately the led lights are very bright!). Hearing great things about the auto gear change version and look forwards to trying it -only concern would be it’s not yet time tested -would love to see how the masses get on after say 50,000 Km but I dare say it will still be working just fine 😊. As ever really glad to hear you enjoyed the episode and we look forwards to sharing the next series 😎🙌🏻

Switzerland does not disappoint with its scenery; epic. This new 1300 gsa is slowly growing on me for looks - I went to the Motorcycle Live at the NEC this week and sat on both 1300 GS and GSA. Both felt like amazing bikes, and comfortable for hours in the saddle. The best bit of this vlog was Emma squealing and Sean saying ‘scream if you want to go faster Emm’ 😂 I can see a 1300 gsa soon being ordered and replacing shadow….

Hi Phillip, glad you’re enjoying the two up vlogs 😎🙌🏻. Space wise the R1300 GSA feels very much like our trusty R1250. Comfort-wise we feel It’s just as comfy too -although would like to try it with the panniers (which appear to sit lower). The pannier extenders didn’t work with a pillion as they where too high so perhaps they might be okay on the R1300 GSA. Hopefully we can take it out again soon -although it was snowing here last week 😂.

@ we had never been to Switzerland so we had a great taster and took your recommendations, so will definitely be back, I had planned a route to incorporate the B500 Baden Baden, Switzerland, Lake Como, and the Grossglockner, we managed to do it all but fortunately we hadn’t booked accommodation so we ended up doing the trip backwards, as the Grossglockner had snow on the 1st week , we saw all 4 seasons in July, we were battered by rain, hail, fog the San Bernardino pass you recommended was badly damaged by floods so got closed so we ended up going over the Splugen pass, we have just done a month in Spain in our camper van and we left Valencia early on the morning it flooded, we dodged a bullet, it’s been a strange year everywhere this year. @SeanandEmilyАй бұрын
Thanks! This video was actually a last minuet ‘we’ve got the bike for a day’ in a place we know very well video and was a lot of fun 😊. Not sure if I’m the authority on telling people how best to tackle the passes, but if you can swing out and turn in late whilst accelerating around the corner it’s a big help. Putting the weight on the outside of the bike is very useful too for slower corners (opposite to how you would take fast corners). Most of the time it’s simpler if you keep the bike in first -saves faffing with the gears of you need to stop or if the revs drop too much. Oh and if you have to stop mid corner be sure to put the correct foot down depending on the camber of the turn (whichever foot is closest to the ground) Not sure but I might have mentioned it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/moirdIyKl8t3nrssi=vgTr7YMR41kIdSuk

Sounds like you have an exciting trip to look forwards too! 5 days is a nice anoint if time to have in Switzerland and we are sure you will have an amazing time. We did this ride on the last Sunday of October I think -it’s literally as they were getting ready to close the pass. Also we are on the Furka pass at around 17:00 when it’s normally quieter anyway. We were actually fortunate that the pass was still open as in previous weeks many of the passes closed due to some freakishly early snow storms. Sean - how does that Touratech bag connect to the bike? Did you have to rig something on your own or was it made for the back of the bike? I'm going to have to get something like that so Brenda feels more confident before Bumot creates their top case for the bike.
@SeanandEmilyАй бұрын
Hi, surprisingly you would think it was made for the bike 😁 it fitted perfectly on, it’s designed to be attached to the top of the panniers but somehow the straps are in the exact position of the GSA rack. Do you not fancy the OEM top box? Or is there a waiting time for it? Yeah a top box is essential for the pillion, the Touratech box at least provided a little bit of security -I think they make one that’s not so wide too although I’m not sure if the straps are in the same position. Here’s the link for the Touratech box we used : www.touratech.com/en/pannier-lid-bag-extreme-edition-by-touratech-waterproof.html

Hi sean and emily, Great video! Being a long video it has taken me a while to get round to watching it, but well worth it 👌, what stunning scenery Switzerland 🇨🇭 has and great roads, But over £9 for 2 small cups of coffee ☕️ I could buy about 4 in England, think I would have a flask, I think emily must have good strong legs 🦵 with filming and at times not holding on with her other hand, and think she wasn't to far from coming off the back of the bike, glad she didn't, The bike is quite and I personally like quite bikes, my bike is quite a yamaha xj600s diversion and I love the bike it does everything I want from it, I know it certainly isn't everyone's choice but it's mine. Have a great time in India 🇮🇳 and look forward to the videos. Best wishes Roy in England. 👍😊.

Hi Roy, thanks very much! Yeah this was a long one 😆 -it seemed a shame to split it but glad you got found to watching it. This was one of its favourite rides of the year and the passes closed soon after we made this video. Yeah but steep indeed! We do usually carry a flask but not much room this time. Yeah agreed, Emily does a fantastic job of holding on and filming at the same time ….better with a back box! We liked that this bike is quiet when you want it to be as fit long distance touring a loud bike isn’t for us -hence we always keep a standard exhaust. Great that you’ve found a bike that suits you -that’s the only person it needs to please 😊. Thanks again for your comment Roy and we are looking forwards to sharing the Videos once we return. 😎🙌🏻

@SeanandEmily6 сағат бұрын
In fairness it’s packed with new tech and increased performance but yeah lighter would be welcomed over faster. If weight is a concern one can choose to only fill the tank all the way when you need to. This bike is very easy to pick up, the boxer bikes never really fall over -they just lean a bit on the floor so it’s surprisingly easy to pick up. (Thinner lighter bikes fall completely on their sides so can actually be harder to pick up)

Found the opposite, slow speed turns around the city were noticeably easy. In fact it handled the same ad the GS model. Faster turns it dropped in like a sports bike. Awesome that you have been able to take it on a race track so early!

Wow sounds like it was always pricey! 😳
