I just want to hug and kiss this woman!!! Dr. Brown you are amazing and I am so glad I found this video! My physician has been threatening me that I have poor DEXA scores and is trying to guilt me into taking drugs! I have resisted because of other research and I am so glad to have found your podcast. I may send it to my Dr.!!!Thank you OsteoBoston!!!

Such informative info. I learned a lot that I didn’t know about osteoporosis. My 88 yr old mom has severe osteoporosis, she has gone from 5’4 down to 5’ and we worry that if she ever falls her bones will shatter like glass 😢. I am now 66 and according to the Dexa test I have osteoporosis too. I want to do everything I can possibly do to build up bone strength before i consider any drugs. Thank you for educating us. 6:15

I heard if you slightly cook spinach or kale that deals with the oxolate concern

According to what Sally K. Norton says, that is unfortunately not true at all. The effect is negligible (i.e., it hardly matters) with spinach, because that food is so sky high with oxalates. However, there is something you can do about kale: make sure to choose (and only eat) *Lacinato* kale (a.k.a. "dino kale"). Do not eat *Curly* kale. The latter type of kale has very high oxalates, and is best not eaten -- in any form. However, the former type of kale (Lacinato variety) has much less oxalate, and can probably be eaten safely in moderation / or modest amounts. Lemon juice, or lime juice (organic, of course) along with the kale, if you are juicing or blending it, will help the flavor and digestibility of your final concoction greatly. Carrots or cucumbers can be the third ingredient (main component) in the juicing, if you wish. To really lower your oxalate dietary intake, consider gradually moving over to a more carnivore (animal based) diet. Red meat, especially (such as grass fed and grass finished beef), but only after doing plenty of "layperson research" about it first, to assure yourself of the safety of it, and suitability for you. Goat milk kefir (organic of course) and eggs (truly pastured, highest quality) ... are also healthy food choices, for most people's diets -- lacking any specific sensitivity or food allergies, I think. Based on extensive reading I have done for my own purposes, on matters of nutrition. Good luck in your health journey. - P.S., I think "wheat grass shots" are very low oxalate, if you don't want to give up the green drinks (i.e., juiced vegetables, using a machine at home, etc.). Good phyto-nutrients are in wheat grass shots, and very few, or little, "anti-nutrients" exist in them. Chase it with an orange slice, piece of organic fruit, afterward, to help clear your mouth of the grassy taste of the wheat grass shot. It's good if you are fortunate to have a "juice bar" in the town you live in, also, so they can do the juicing for you. I recommend checking into Sally K. Norton. She knows a great deal about Oxalates. She published a book titled "Toxic Superfoods" (2023), which is an extensive treatment of the subject (very thorough). She also has a good website, which might be worth checking out also.

I wouldn’t base my decision on Sally Norton’s opinions. Too many knowledgeable people refute her.
