Hey! So to explain ophthalmology. So usually when a woman is pregnant she can have a myopic shift. Meaning she can become more near sighted. Which is why we don’t do LASIK on pregnant women because their prescription will change during pregnancy. Your friend had the opposite. When she was pregnant instead of becoming more near sighted she shifted the other direction. So her nearsightedness improved! That’s very uncommon but not rare. Also, Bridgett I think it’s amazing you stood up for yourself and the girls! That took bravery 💪🏻

Bridget is totally right. As a nanny and a doula, I don't even want kids anymore because I know how much women go through when having babies and then becoming mothers. A lot of is great too. But many women tell me they were oblivious about so many parts of having babies and becoming a parent. And they admit that they would probably not have chosen to be a parent, if they had known from the beginning. It's not right that we don't know how bad postpartum can become or how absolutely traumatizing many births are.

Thank you ladies for discussing pregnancy and postpartum!! I 100% agree with what Bridget said about discussing the "ugly" side of birth and women's health! I just had my first baby last year and the doctor barely gave me any information! Most of the aspects of pregnancy and birth I just knew or had heard in health class/picked up over the years. I felt like my doctors were completely useless and would just refer me to the packets and information they give you when you first become pregnant. No one wants to actually TALK about it. We definitely need to do a better job with women's health (especially reproductive) in the US!

47:35 I have an auto immune condition similar to Lyme disease that gives me chronic nerve pain and it COMPLETELY goes away when im pregnant. there are studies that suggest that while pregnant the baby can send stem cells to certain afflicted parts of the mothers body and the healing can be long term depending on what was wrong with her to begin with. so I totally believe that woman's eyesight was improved by pregnancy! I think as important as it is to inform women of the "scary" things that can come with pregnancy and postpartum, its equally as important to educate that its not always this terrible, life ruining experience either lol.

Adult worker wasps can live between 12 - 22 days while the queen will survive for the entire year until the cold causes the colony to die off. If you are accounting the time that it takes for a wasp egg to develop into an adult, it can take between 40 - 60 days depending on external environmental factors.

@arielsclamshellbra8 ай бұрын
Adoption isn't a substitute for wanting your own child and pushing people who can't have their own kids into adopting only sets the parents and the child up to resent one another. It's a huge topic in adoption forums etc where adoptees have trauma from growing up in a home that they were only brought into because the parents couldn't have their own child and don't want to deal with the trauma that comes from kids being adopted. It's OK to want your own children and not want to deal with things you may not have the tools or desire to deal with after adopting a child who may have many issues. Stop suggesting adoption for infertile women, it doesn't do any good, they know they can adopt without you telling them, if they don't then that's just fine.
@janicetehie38396 ай бұрын
She does not have to adopt. She could also volunteer in schools or organizations that focus on children, being a mentor or reading to them or something. You do not need to be a parent yourself to make a difference.

Not talking about the details of giving birth is not a taboo issue or women not informing each other. I truly think it is more about the physical & mental extremes we experience during birth causes us to almost block it out or forget. If women have c section or epidural, we get catheter & we don't exactly feel what's happening. So it's possible not to know you are pushing out after birth during an epidural. C sections don't require you to push it out either.

So for me, there's 2 major things I didn't know, when going into labor & giving birth is 1) your water doesn't always just break on its own, when your body is getting ready to give birth & 2) that the epidural ONLY works & relieves the pain while having contractions , but does NOTHING for the pain while pushing!!! I was pushing for 3 1/2 hours & only 30 mins after getting my epidural at 4 cm, my water broke & I was 10 cm, and had to start pushing!!! So I felt EVERYTHING!! Also, after I gave birth I was able to walk & wasn't numb so I don't think the epidural even worked on me regardless!!! Oh & 1 more thing I didn't know was, that u bleed ALOT & for a month or 2 after giving birth!!! So crazy that us first time moms, try to plan & be prepared for anything & everything, yet you literally find out very important things that happen, as it's actually happening!!!
