I recently had a bad map sensor in my Chevy. It mainly acted like it wanted to cut off at idle and had hesitation when hitting the gas.

I was told when unplugging the map sensor if the car keeps running its bad, but I got a new one and it keeps running to. So both are doing the same thing, cars at idol. when I unplug the sensor so my guess is that isn't good information not surprising seems how there's never much information on my car at all.

My map is 27 years old. It didnt throw a code but in testing with a good scanner its showing way to much voltage and nesrly no kpa at any given time. I bought a new one and it resolved the problem what you left out is it causes tons of misfires snd csn even mske your transmission not shift at all or very improper. My 2.2 Chevy now gets much better fuel mileage and it fixed several other issues. No more misfires no more not going into lock up and it nearly doubled my gas mileage.

My 2006 bmw 325i has been going in and out of limp mode and also having rough starts and rough idle. Replacing map sensor asap as I did get a code pointing to the map sensor. Hoping it fixes my issues 🤞

I got the P0107 code (map sensor on a 2.2 Ecotech) and my car won't start now. Would this sensor going bad keep it from starting? It cranks, but no start. I put new plugs in and they have fuel on them. Its definitely too rich on fuel

D - It's possible, but oil on plugs could be a a failing valve cover gasket.

@@8020Media Not oil....Fuel. I checked fuses and kept on replacing parts and checking vital parts of the engine by taking it apart. Everything mechanical in the engine is fine, including the head gasket. It's not getting spark. I replaced the plugs, coil pack, ignition control module, starter, crankshaft sensor, and now the map sensor. I also tracked down all 3 of the engine ground wires and replaced them. It's still not firing. It's cranking, but that's it. Now my battery is dead from all the attempts to restart it while adding new parts. But I am jumping it, with no avail. Fuel pump is working great. Replaced it 7 months ago. The plugs have a very noticeable fuel smell and I even smell fuel after trying to start it. I let them dry out and try it again with the same result. I'm about to replace the TPS and then the PCM next week as much funds are running out till next payday....OR i'm about to have to call a guy that charges $130 an hour to diagnose my car....I just know it's going to be something simple I have missed in the end

I had my engine light come on right after replacing the timing chain on my F150. Used a cheap OBD II reader and found it was turbo over pressure reading. Cleaned the sensor coming from the air box and problem solved. Looked like the mechanic changing out the timing chain might have got some dirt in there. I already had a can of MAS cleaner on hand, so cheap fix. I'm sure if I took it back to fix the problem it would have cost at least a $125 diagnostic fee. 😅 7:16

I have a 04 Jimmy 4.3Vortec. I’m having the P0172 and p0175 code ( banks 1&2 too rich) along with the p0101 code. MAF shows 9g/s and -25 fuel trims but O2 sensor are showing Rich conditions. So I replaced the MAF(brand new) I replaced the Spider injection (brand new) but I’m still having the codes. When I unplug the MAF it drives a lot better and fuel trims are near 0. Can a bad MAP sensor cause the MAF to read higher at idle? Requesting more air or something along those lines? My O2 sensors fluctuate up and down as they are suppose to. Bank 2 sensor 2 O2 is steady around .6-.8 which is reading high fuel after cat still. Not sure what else to check or change

@@8020Media I appreciate it! That was for a lean condition. I was having a rich condition. But I figured out the problem. I had a faulty cap solenoid that wasn’t throwing a code. It was pulling gas fumes from the evap canister

So im having a issue with my 2008 ford focus in the beginning i had a p2196 code for a 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 stuck/ rich biased code i was having rough start ups sometimes its struggles to start and sometimes it starts right up and when it does the rpm's drop then fluncuate then idles and when i put it in drive the rpms drop and slightly struggle to rise and when i try to drive the car it stutters ,hesitates, jerks and has low power and cant really get higher than 4k rpm's and if im at a stop light the car may or may not stall and if it does i smell feul amd get a banana check engine light i replaced the 02 sensor and also put in a new valve cover gasket due to a leak and new spark plugs wich had a light colored charred color on them And after the new sensor the code and check engine light went away but im still left with the same syntoms and when the car stalls i get the p2196 code and check engine light again but when i start the car back up the check engine light is gone but still poor engine performance. Im lost between sensors, feul and air and could really use some guidance

my check engine light turns on with the rest of the lights when i turn on the car. but it has NEVER illuminated when my car has had any issues. its quite irritating. the codes are presumably still logged though, so i should check them. i believe the altezza is obd1? because its sold outside the US it didnt get obd2. im not sure. but that means i can short the pins and count the flashes, or buy a cheap obd1 scanner?

Hi, I have an Abarth Punto with EVAP fault codes. I also have a fault code for Overboost and Turbo Vacuum. I’ve done a smoke test and it’s got no leaks from the manufold/EVAP side and also the turbo system. Plugged my TopDon in and on live data, I noticed the Air Pressure was reading at 25000Mbar on idle snd 8000mbar when idling. Is this a sign of a failed MAP sensor?

I have a 1992 ford f150 standard transmission and the rpms surge to 3000+ rpms. Continues to surge when in gear, making it very hard on my brakes going over mountian passes. I Cleaned the trittle body and replaced the air pressure control valve. It helped but it still surges, would the MAP sensor be my next part to look at?

J - Are you getting any engine codes? It wouldn't hurt to clean the MAP sensor to see if that helps your symptoms some more.

I’m getting map sensor symptoms but not getting any map sensor codes. I have gotten fuel is too rich and misfire on cylinder 6. Truck runs fine unless I have a load or I accelerate too fast. Truck will start jerking/shaking and will lose power, Engine light will blink. When I let off gas and and either coast or come to a stop the light will stop blinking and truck back to normal

I just bought a 2010 dodge charger and while I was driving it the car just stalled and turned off. I was in drive and when I put it into park I turned it off and back on and the check engine light was on. After so many rotations with the car being turned off and on in that same night of when this happened now the check engine light is not coming on And we were able to drive it home OK. I’m still Freaked out over this because I see that this is an issue with this type of vehicle based on other peoples problems … I read where someone replaced the map sensor and it fixed it. Could this be the case? Everyone I saying on the dodge charger it won’t show any codes after this happens

I think I have a bad map sensor it would act like if it was starving for gas it would idle for a few seconds then shut off , I got it to a point here it would idle a little better but as soon as I gave it gas it would shut off , so I disconnected my sensor and started it back up and it would stay running for a fat min but still felt like it needed gas . As soon as I plugged it in it would die when I would unplug it it would stay running , I changed my spark plugs , coils injectors and pump all because I thought those where my problems first , I am no mechanic

Sounds like your throttle body might be stuck or something. You might still have a code hiding in there even if you don't have a check engine light so try reading codes

Oh how easy it would be if there were codes. No codes. Car has calibrated itself to drive okay; but, if the battery is disconnected and the comp resets, the car won't drive well at all :/
