Honestly, the old elevators from before the mod remind me of a worse version of the elevators in my very own college residence hall. My building contains a bank of 2 elevators, and they act just like the elevators in this video, but a bit more predictable and rarer to catch a glitch. I’ve had both of them stop on a random floor and open. Car 2 parked while I was inside, even though I had a floor pressed, which was fixed by pressing the button again. Car 1 sometimes flashes the letter Z on the indicators for a split second. Car 1 is also the worst one, as it got stuck with people trapped inside on two occasions (the fire department even showed up for at least one of the rescues), and in addition also seems far less precise with leveling than car 2. Car 2 seems reliable at least, even when busy as a result of car 1’s outages. Another oddity: the ground floor button is labeled “*1” in car 1, and “L” without a star in car 2!! If anyone was wondering, they’re 50s Otis’s with an early 2000s generic mod. They got new floor and wall finishes, GAL doors and the Adams/EPCO square braille-wrapped buttons that kind of resemble Otis series 1.
