As someone who owned this game when it was new, my secret to playing this game was talking to my brother a lot. We usually played it together, and would each have unique perspectives. Additionally, we were never able to get through the final Note door until several years later, so we reset the game... A LOT! Like, we've probably played through this game more than anyone alive, and as such, as we learned from our mistakes and developed muscle memory. I'm so glad you covered this game! While I can spot its flaws more readily now, it's still a great game that I love revisiting, and I'm glad the era of the Internet has given it so much love!

Those of us who played the game as kids were made of sterner stuff back then. I was born in 1996 and played this game when I was little. The deep underwater part in Clanker's Cavern scared me as a kid. Like genuinely scared me. The music sounded like extreme water pressure crushing your skull in on itself. It was like the music was saying "go do what you need to do then get out", it felt like the game was mad at me or something. I dunno, I was a little kid when I played it. Oddly enough, Mad Monster Mansion didn't scare me much, it felt like a fun Halloween adventure. Oh yes, I forgot about Mr. Vile, I always hated how he bit your behind after losing, but it was satisfying to bite him as payback. Freezeezy Peak, Mad Monster Mansion, and Click Clock Woods were my favorites. King Sandybutt's maze is pure anxiety. I love the winter segment of Click Clock Wood, though. I love having all four seasons in real life. I live in northern New Hampshire, so I definitely know about winter here, haha. Thanks for the fun retrospective. I'm tempted to dust off my N64 and play this (not sure if I have a CRT TV in my house, I think my parents do somewhere).

My favorite level was absolutely Mad Monster Mansion. I went in with the expectation of it being just a "haunted house" type world, like in many 2D Marion games. But it had a haunted house, a church, a graveyard, a maze, a deep well and much more! It was so cool and the music reminded me of cheesy older spooky movies!

Perdón que escriba en español. N64 fue la consola que soñé tener de niño y no pude. Tuve que esperar 25 años desde su lanzamiento para probar estos juegos que veía en publicidades de tv y revistas y deseaba con todo mi corazón. Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, entre tantos otros.

I remember playing this game in an after school program. I had Super Mario 64 and would say it was so much better than Banjo Kazooie but secretly enjoyed it. Took a while before I got my own copy to play. Subsequent playthroughs, I'd get to Mad Monster Mansion and just lose interest for some reason. This is one of those games where the controls are so ingrained in me that I need the N64 controller and even with the Switch, I bring it out. Never played Banjo Pilot but Gruntys Revenge was fun. It was great to see them scrunch Banjo Kazooie down to the GBA. It's just far too short. I unintentionally beat it the same day I got it.

That engine room can suck it... lol! On the N64 it is frustrating as hell because you'd have to collect the notes again if death happens but thankfully not so on the Xbox 360 version. I'd recommend doing the engine room first so that it doesn't get nerve-wracking if you decide to do the engine room last, cutting it close with the notes.😆
@GamewithAndy3 ай бұрын
LOL I agree. Doing the engine room first is definitely helpful. I’ve never played the Xbox version but I heard it’s really forgiving as well
@RaymanSanctuary3 ай бұрын
Definitely recommended to do first. It is worth it playing for improved graphics, framerate, but the one thing the Xbox version has over the original is the fact that when you collect the notes in the Xbox version, you keep it so that if you do die, you don't have to collect those notes again which makes Rusty Bucket easier to complete on one go through.

Now that Nintendo and Microsoft are colaborating sometimes and they even put Banjo in Smash, it would be nice if they did Banjo-Threeie kinde like they did with Crash 4, considering only the first two games canon and making it in that style but modernized

@@carlitobrigante4845 Banjo was never met to continue. The original intention for Rare is to create an adventure game called Project Dream on the SNES, but it was moved to the N 64, it wasn't working for some reason. Mostly like because realistic games can be difficult to work on N 64, such as Golden Eye. So Project Dream became Banjo Kazooie. However now that the N 64 era has ended, Rare no longer needs the Banjo and Kazooie. Why, DK 64. People did not like the backtracking of that game, and while Banjo Tooie's backtracking isn't as bad. Rare might be worried that another Banjo game would suffer the same problems as DK 64 if not worse. It's sad but it's true, some of the greatest games exists because of hardware limitations. Thankfuly are Banjo like games such as Demon Turf Neon Splash, Hat in Time, and Tinykin.
