A Beautiful Balisong | Squid Industries Nautilus First Impressions

It's new trainer day! In this video I unbox my trainer grail, the Squid Industries winter inked Nautilus aka the Oreo Nautilus! I'll give you my first impressions and immediate thoughts on this interesting balisong and, spoiler alert, it's beautiful.

The large thigh gap compensates for the hard steel tang pins constantly hitting into soft 6061 aluminum and g10. The 6061 will dent and make the gap smaller, without slapping of course.

Why would they use cheaper aluminum and charge the same as a Kraken?

It's 7075 aluminum. Squidtrainer uses 6061 but has zen pins.

I got into balisongs about a year ago. My first knife was a nebalis g-10. I had never used a butterfly knife before so that was my first impression. I got really good using it and eventually coughed out 350cad and bought the nautilus. Best choice I've ever made. It definitely feels like a premium knife. It's kinda like the Apple of balisongs. It feels amazing, sounds like heaven and is tuned to perfection. I got my nautilus about 5 months ago and I still use it everyday. I do have other knives but none of them can even come close to the nautilus.

@@yiy8030 Honestly no, only the tang pins are a little worn down after being hit against the handles so much but other than that it's super high quality and durable

must be a new box. my winter nautilus is the old box that just has limited edition on the side of it. enjoy it. I got another regular silver one I beat on because that white is just too good.

The Nautilus has g10 on the outside of the handles rather than aluminum

Cool :D I enjoyed your review. btw I have question about its tang pin, does it still has any handle gap? I'm concidering between Krake raken trainer and Nautilus. I prefer Nautilus because of its design and weight. But I saw many Nautiluses that handles hitting themselves. New sub :D

I've never flipped a Kraken trainer personally and I don't think I've had this long enough to really recommend it or not, stay tuned for the full review though!

The bite handle bind might be from a slightly undersized bushing, you could talk to squid about it or you can buy a bushing of the same spec

I've been flipping it since this video and the swing on the handle is completely fine, and the loctite is still holding so I think it's good

@@camaroEE I think he means in terms of price. They charge 10 dollars more for the nautilus over the kraken and it uses cheaper materials.

I love mine, I think its the best sounding balisong in Squid's lineup and it looks great (I have the winter blue version). The two complaints I have about it are as follows, 1. The lack of all around chamfering. I think this was an odd decision from Squid seeing as the backside of the blade is chamfered. I get that it is sort of a punishment for touching the bite side but my friend's Antarctic even has chamfered cutouts and he gives me shit about it. 2. The G-10. I can hardly stand how bone dry it feels and, though it sounds nit picky, I have heard others complaining about it. Guess I'll have to buy some oil for it. Well that's everything off my mind. I didn't come to the comments looking to write this much but it just happened on its own. I just came upon your channel and I think your content is stellar! Hopefully this comment tips the balance and attracts the algorithm's attention. Keep up the good work! -D
