Even though I’m relatively new to dci, started watching 2019, I never was into the cadets but I still knew they were great. Last years show really made the cadets stand out for me and I was stunned when they announced they are folding. This commemoration from Madison gave me goosebumps even as a non-cadets fan

You should watch some past shows of theirs. Many a high schooler fell in live with DCI from their 2000 show. Finals run isn’t perfect but still.

We cannot forget the The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps (formerly the Holy Name Cadets, Cadets of Garfield, Garfield Cadets, and Cadets of Bergen County) They have produced many memorable productions.

If they had like millions and millions of dollars, would it be enough to pay settlements and legal fees and would that enable them coming back? just wondering, stranger things have happened. DCI itself could change, collapse. There was 400 BILLION dollars in team sports in 2022 alone. I know it's almost impossible, but almost impossible and impossible aren't the same. (Hey, I'm grieving. Hope springs eternal in the human heart.)

@@sunl1ghtsword171-e9m Sue the person that did it to you. Cadets didn’t do it. 90 years of history versus one horrible person. She got screwed by one person and she turned around and screwed 10s of 1000s.

@@mrfld The Cadets were complacent and hid it under the rug. They allowed this stuff to continue for decades. If the Cadets had no responsibility in what happened, the court would have dropped the case against the Cadets and solely focused on GH. It's the same reason the Boy Scouts collapsed because the organization allowed abuse to happen for decades.

@@mrfldthat’s not how it works. He was the head of the org when all the allegations took place. That leaves the org on the hook sadly. The other part that nobody talks about a lot is that the allegations spanned decades. There may have been others that knew what was going on and kept quiet. Horrible situation for the victim first and foremost. And you shouldn’t victim shame. Imagine if it was your loved one who was SA while on tour, during a camp or anytime. I LOVE DCI and Cadets as an org, but the safety and well being of its staff and members HAS to be a priority. The right result took place , unfortunately at the hands of one person.

⁠I read in an article a few months ago that the abuse was perpetrated by I believe a staff member that is actually no longer alive. I will never understand how there could be such a severe mental and emotional damage that taking down a storied and excellent youth program would in some way heal the pain. Props to my fellow Madison Scouts for honoring this amazing organization and all the great things they have done for young men and women. Cadets will be forever missed and remembered!
