First tie for a caption award was in 1980. We (Spirit of Atlanta) tied Bridgemen for the Sanford Award for High Percussion. (19.2) so the judges had to gather and decide how to break the tie. Their decision was to use the general effect score to break the tie which gave the trophy to the Bridgemen. We of course thought they should have used the execution score to break the tie, which would have given the trophy to us. Oh well. Memories.

@bkbass983 жыл бұрын
Cool vid thanks! But yeah 88 Scouts has to be in there (even though I think SCV should’ve won that year...both were brilliant). Probably other than the phantom wins, that was the biggest upset (in part because of the goofy “hidden scores” to the crowd going into Finals, who were under the impression BD was still undefeated even though Scouts had won semis). Also, I think the reaction in 89 was as much just an acknowledgement of the sustained excellence of SCV over that stretch...silver medal in 85, 86, 87, 88. Finally got over in 89. Maybe it was a bit of a legacy placement over PR, but I see both sides.
