Rich, I have to say it again, your new home is amazing. I love the editing in this one. I do see those low hanging lights and how good you have become at missing them. I have been searching for the popular dog and I think I might have found him behind a plant? lol It's good to see your plants all looking so great after the move. I was afraid that they might get a chill on that cold day. Awesome first video in the new home. Peace.

I try to help my sister grow plants. She loves plants but usually ends up with dead ones. I talked her into getting a moisture meter this time though. 😊 but she bought a calathea 😱 I had warned her about calatheas especially that "dottie". Well hopefully with the moisture meter and the water conditioner she will succeed.

Since I have several pets the first item on my checklist when shopping for plants is: Is it toxic to pets? No toxic plants come into my house. Toxic: Tradescantia Monstera Pothos Philodendron Rubber plant Jade plant Zebra plant ZZ plant Dracaena Non-toxic: Money Tree Spider plant Calathea My favorite non-toxic vining plants that substitute for philodendron and pothos: Hoyas (especially Carnosa Krimson Queen; produces clusters of pink flowers w/crimson centers; easy to propagate) Peperomia Scandens (AKA false philodendron)

I love your new home. Lots of windows. And enjoy your videos. I have to get my other plants stand put together in my little cottage and give more room for cuttings I need to pot. Yup. I'm gonna watch that video again about NO SOIL. I have some perlite and some dessert plant "soil". But I'm gonna rewatch that video and go from there. Yup. And ordered some clear pots! Yup. And some trays to go under pots of all sizes. And a thingy you use when working on your plants - looked handy and big enough to work on. Water proof too. Got some stuff to clear/clean stuff from water - and a liquid fertilizer to add to when needed. I'm trying to remember all you teach us - but I have to go a second round or 3 to keep it "in my mind". LOL Keep up the good work. Glad I found your channel!

Like a month or 2 ago I bought 2 plants, checked for pests and health in the store, brought them home and forgot about importance of isolating the plants for a few months, I noticed the peperomia rosso dropping leaves with mushy stems, thought I have overwatered it, although I watered only once, so I cut buck on watering and yesterday I wanted to water it, but decided to check for pests first and I saw a HUGE thrips infestation, there were like 5 of them on each leaf, knowing how hard it is to get rid of them and that I have to leave for 3 days at that exact moment, i said goodbye to her in the bin, decided to check my english ivy that i bought at the same store trip, they were sitting together this whole time, I found only 1 bug, but there might be eggs somewhere or more hiding idk, the plant was rather very healthy, but at that point i was so angry and i didnt know how many bugs are there actually, and since i can't treat it right now I threw it in the bin as well. I'm very sad indeed, checked the other plants, didn't see anything (they're all sitting together by the window, cause other places are too dark). Gonna buy pesticides and check all my plants again when I get home. From now on I will definitely isolate new plants and check for pests regularly

I bought a Schefflera in October and it’s dying so bad 😞😞😞 I looked for pests and root rot + root bound and everything was okay I made sure to have the light requirements I also repotted it to give more drainage as the leaves were getting brown and I lowered the watering rate I don’t know what to do anymore

Love your videos. I have a Question. How would you prune that first plant you showed in the video? I have a similar one. I cut off 2 stems but nothing new grew out of it so I'm curious as to where I should cut it and how much is ok to cut? Thank you!

Should be on the stem above a leaf node

Good advice for all plant shoppers. I occasionally buy a plant online (in the US, I don't recommend international plant purchases, a lot of risk and cost). I will say that the only time I've gotten hitchhikers was from an online grower, so make sure you isolate any new arrival (I didn't see any pests upon arrival, but two weeks later and, Hey presto! spider mites AND mealy bugs all over the damned place! But in my small flat, there just wasn't a suitable spot to isolate the guilty party, so now the genocide begins! Love the new digs...but you just might want to replace those dangling head-knockers you've got and install surface-mounted lights instead....although every time I see you dodge one I'm reminded of a scene in LotR (the movie) where Gandalf is knocking his gourd on Bilbo's low ceiling. As for plants: Yeah, jade plants are pretty carefree, but one I've had for about three years suddenly developed a massive mildew infection and has been dropping leaves like snow! Consulted 'the Google' and discovered this can be caused by low temps and high humidity...it's winter, so 'low temps'? Check. Humidity? Oh, so that humidifier I've been running for the orchid is the culprit. A change of location for Mr. Jade and a regular misting with a dilute vinegar solution appears to have stemmed the onslaught. I'd have gone with a Dracaena massangaena instead of the marginata, just for the variation and brighter color. I've got both, and discovered that the massangaena gets much bigger leaves under a grow light than previously. She's looking quite spendid now, except for the battle with mealy bugs which I think I'm winning that battle. (Neem oil spray every few days. NO mercy!) I love your sunroom...had one myself, where my Ficus lyrata topped off at about fifteen feet! You'll be living in a veritable jungle in no time with all that light. After all, what was God's first command? "Let there be light." (Might as well steal from the best, eh?)
