A Beginner's How-To Guide for Swooshes

I am sharing my own how-to guide on painting swooshes. (Aka Swipes, comma stokes, tear drops etc.) I'll starting at the beginning covering paint consistency, tools, loading paint, and the techniques to practice. Hopefully, no matter where you fall on the scale of advancement, you will find something of use here.
I have gone into detail on each of these subjects and provided my own tips and terminology. This video is quite a bit longer than my normal thus, please see the timestamps below to better navigate through as needed.

These were fantastic tips to practice on and the plastic bag pinto beans rest also great idea... this video it really heped alot, as the jar idea to one upcycle and two you can continue to wipe/ practics especially if your on a budget and cant continuing to buying practice paper, altho might i also suggest computer a ream packet of computer paper that comes in package of five hundred in a ream (thats good reliable practice paper) its good quailty and feels smooth and but not that feeling of a precious feeling art quailty paper as computer paper its in a good budget.. thank uou again..

Yep, I have used printer paper and it’s just fine to start. My own caution is swooshes are killer or any absorbent material. I struggled so much with paper. I was a minute from giving up. Then I used glass and it was magic. Honestly was the only thing that saved me. It gave me confidence. Dots too look and feel better on a smooth surface and I can’t believe more ppl don’t recommend it to beginners. Life changing.

No matter what I do I seem to always have a drag line through the paint. Does this mean I’m pressing to hard or my paint is to think/thin. I’ve practised so many time 🤦‍♀️

It absolutely could be too much pressure but it’s not a straight answer. Make sure that a) your paint dot you start with is loaded enough. You really have to make sure you have a nice fat drop in order to move it. b) The paint is the right consistency, something kinda like yogurt-ish. c) you pull lightly from the center of your dot where the paint sits.
