Ive been squeezing the trigger on these glasses since they first announced their kickstarter. The main question is will they stand up to time. As we are all aware, tech booms up (along with prices) and improvements are made to make some functions obsolete. I would like a good dive under the hood to see what they are working with and how / if the hardware will be able to keep up with anything else coming out. If they told me software would be implemented to nuke the neck band need (which i dont think is even possible for its current setup) in the future id stop squeezing and just pull.

Hi there, thanks so much for your detailed comment and question. Unfortunately the short answer is probably "no" because of what you said about tech booms and improvements... but the long answer would be "maybe" or "yes"? I say this because it's coming up on 2+ years since we've gotten these types of glasses available to consumers and we've only seen very limited progress in terms of the direction they're going. I would expect the next logical steps to be wider FOV and 6DOF implementation BUT... from my sources, 6DOF doesn't have any "real" consumer application use right now (given MR is kind of still in its infancy) so it might be a couple years or so before we see REAL leaps and jumps in the tech itself. In terms of implementing software to nuke the neckband, I don't think that's actually possible because there isn't any real compute power (AFAIK) on any of these glasses. Qualcomm is working on their Snapdragon XR chips and have announced XR type glasses which house them but I think it'd be a real leap of faith to believe that we can see anything like Quest level power/performance in a glasses form factor for at least the next few years. Ultimately I do seee the direction that both VR and AR/XR are going is towards these type of "regular glasses" form factor -- so imagine everything you can do with a Quest 3 but in a sunglasses type, but we're likely a ways away from that (primarily because of heat and power requirements). tl;dr If you see yourself using these for media consumption and gaming I think they'll still be useful even a couple years down the road. I say this primarily because the images themselves are very nice and crisp, even if the FOV is limited. Worst case scenario, perhaps buy from a source with a reasonable return policy to try them out? Thanks again for your comment!

Can you do a comparison video between VO with Neckband vs Xreal Air 2 Ultra with beam?
@gamers-generation
@gamers-generation 2 ай бұрын
Thanks again for another great comment. I would love to do this but unfortunately do not have the Xreal Air 2 Ultrass. Just to clarify, do you mean the Xreal Air 2 Pros? The Air 2 Ultras are a good amount of money more than the Xreal Air/Air 2s and VOs, and so I would expect them to be better even with the limited compatibility listed on their website: "Compatible Devices: Spatial computing: Samsung S22: OneUI 5.1, Snapdragon processor Samsung S23: OneUI 5.1/6.0, Snapdragon processor An XREAL custom computing unit for the best AR experience is coming."

I currently have Xreal Airs and I find them incredibly uncomfortable on my nose and the prescription lenses touch my eye lashes. They are so uncomfortable on many levels. How are these around the nose? Do the lenses get smudged by touching your eyelids?
@gamers-generation
@gamers-generation 6 ай бұрын
I've heard that they are more uncomfortable to some as well. When I put the Airs side by side with the Viture Ones, it *looks* like the Airs don't open the temples (legs or arms of the glasses) as wide as the Ones, and possibly naturally sit a little narrower together, which might be contributing to discomfort. I've been lucky in that I find both fairly comfortable to wear, but I do think you should try the Viture Ones if the Xreals are causing discomfort. I've not felt my eyelids touching the lenses, that really sounds uncomfortable. Thanks for your detailed comment!

Are they even allowed to use the design? I thought xreal came up with that idea. Nevertheless, xreal air is a much better product in all aspects. I pair them with my aya neo 2s(best handheld pc on the market).

It is the exact opposite, Viture launched on Kickstarter early last year, I was a backer and has been a fan since then! They are still the best on the market, and xreal recently just copied Viture's dimming feature!
