My dearest Janice, as always when I am in need to brighten my day I look to see if a new video of yours is on. And, yippee for me it is and what a fun filled adventurous time it was putting items together for gardening. We learn a vast amount of information about homesteading from visiting your channel. Belated Happy Birthday blessings to your sweet Sarah who is blossoming into a pure, natural beauty like her momma. I’m sending y’all a Christmas card the end of the week as it’s the best I can do this year. I’m disappointed and frustrated due to budgetary constraints I’m super limited this year for all my loved ones. Boo-hiss for me, but I need to be reminded the real reason for the season is in celebrating the birth of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus. With all the pieces of my heart ❤️ ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏😉😉😉

It's great that you get to plant herbs in the winter. Here there is no way. We get so much snow and freezing weather. God bless you all!
@CheriGoodwin Жыл бұрын
If you get it filled with dirt soon, you could plant spring bulbs in it. If not, maybe next fall? Like everybody else, I would plant herbs and salad greens, things you need to reach quickly when cooking. I'd plant pansies in the spring and fall, then if you want a small bouquet to go by the kitchen or a bathroom sink, you can run out and pick it. There are also little ice bowls you can make with bowls that nest inside each other. Freeze the pansies in the water, then use the ice bowls for lettuce or fruit salads, ice cream, etc. Maybe a romantic Valentine's dinner for Shawn! Just set the ice bowl on a plate to catch water as it melts. In the summer, you could plant gladiolus bulbs along with other summer flowers. Cherry tomatoes and sweet peas close to the house for Rebekah to munch on would be nice too. Maybe a mum or two for fall along with kale and cabbage as well as ornamental peppers would be pretty.

I wonder if there’s like a French drain under the rocks for drainage idk 🤷♀️ maybe it prevents the water from pooling there. Otherwise I agree, it doesn’t make sense

Ideas for what to plant: what do you use daily in your cooking that you usually walk out to your garden to get? Put some in this bed to make cooking at meal time easier? Like parsley, oregano, basil, thyme, etc. Make sure they are compatible plants.

I really love that, it will look beautiful when everything is growing, what I did for my herb garden was go through all the meals my family love to eat and any herbs in them were first on the list after that i grew a couple of things ive never tried to grow before for a new experience and to see if we like them. I also put some pretty flower seeds around just because they make me happy. Have fun Janice!

Oh, how fun this will make a great herb garden. Learn from my mistake, if you have the resource of a tree cut logs and then place them vertically to fill the space. Then, fill with soil, mine shrunk down to half because i did not fill it that way. Recently watched a video where they took one apart years later and how the logs support a healthy raised bed.

Hello Janice, ❤ Liz, Adelaide, S.A., Australia, your blue jacket looks very nice on you! Your garden bed looks very good. Glad you had plenty of helpers to assemble it. Now just to fill it and put something nice to eat in there. Will be very useful for your family. Abigail’s earrings are so pretty, are they ones they made in their jewellery kits? Rebecca looks so beautiful all colour coordinated. ❤
@ozarkfamilyhomestead Жыл бұрын
Hi Liz! Thanks for the kind comment! I think Abigail's earrings were made from a toy kit that we'd gotten Anna years ago for her birthday. It has pieces that pop together and can be pulled back apart again. The girls make all kinds of fun things out of that toy set. :)
