I like that Peter has gotta his rating up to a reasonable level. For the longest time he was around 2700 and didn't seem to take blitz play seriously.

I am curious to get your (Svidler) assessment of Ra5+ at 5:00. Next would follow 1...Kb4 (not Kxc4? because of Ra4+) 2. Kxb4 Kxa5 3. Kc5 taking the pawn and queening. Seems like a simpler conversion, no? I still love your humility. It's very hard to premove that ending.

MrOttopants with so little time and no increment magnus doesn’t need to make the best moves(most mives til mate) and hard to account for those. Magnus was also trolling in this game, trying to advance each of his pawns by one square.

Eric well I stated he was trying to move each pawn by one square, I didn’t say that he did do so. He didn’t do the pawn pushes that would surely lose. That e pawn had to move to make it challenging for Svidler - therefore I felt Homer lacked the critique

I feel better, Magnus showed me it is ok to play for the flag in a totally busted position. If the world champion can do that all patzers can follow him :)

Peter is quite often funny, in a funny way. Besides chess, where he is a living chess lexicon, I would say that Peter is probably very intelligent, at least linguistically. We can see this when he can use a rich language.

Simon Bradbury It takes more than the Russian Champion to beat the greatest player on the planet. This is Magnus we’re talking about, not your everyday GM. Make one mistake against Magnus and chances are you’ll get killed.

Svidler is in my opinion the best example of gentleman in chess. His smile when Carlsen checkmated him with a pawn in that classical game is an exceptional display of sportsmanship.

Nah, it was me:) but at 5:00 black played Bd4, Svidler could move Ra5+, Kb4 then Rg4 and the pawn on g6 falls and the white g4 is a passed pawn, i know both were short on time but i´ve seen Carlsen and Firouzja can see deeper lines in just seconds when playing bullet chess online

You would expect a world champion to have a bit more class and resign in lost position in a meaningless online game against any player, whether it's a former regular super GM or casual club player. Seen svidler do that many times in his banter sessions. I guess magnus is all about winning at any cost at all times, which is sad.

Top players online always flag their opponents in bullet. Part of the game. Otherwise your opponent could spend more time getting a winning position and then relying on convention to resign when running out of time.
