Or he should have not shot his kids. Why is everyone putting all the blame on the mother? She was probably under his control, abuse causes damage to the brain where people do things that seem unthinkable and there's no way a sociopath like him wasn't abusive towards his partners. Even if she actually did do it all of her own volition, she didn't pull the trigger, she didn't do the other crimes that got him in trouble in the first place and she didn't break out of prison, he did.

@Tiara S. This isn't like two friends agreed to commit a murder and only one of the did them used the gun but the other is equally responsible because they helped plan the crime and tied up the victim. He almost certainly abused her too, she wasn't "enabling" him, and even if that wasn't the case (which is very unlikely) THE KIDS ARE DEAD SOLELY BECAUSE HE WANTED TO KILL THEM. She didn't help him murder them, she didn't force him, she didn't even encourage him and it wasn't her idea. She's a victim of his violence, not a participant. The idea that he's less responsible for his horrifically selfish actions or that another person shares that responsibility simply because no one stopped him is disgusting. Are you going to say the kids are at fault too? If they'd run away before he trapped them instead of following his instructions and "enabling him" they might still be alive so they're partly to blame, right?

I don't see why they needed to use this confrontational approach to capturing this guy. They knew where he was and they had the place surrounded so he wasn't getting away. They could have just been patient, waited him out and used a much lower risk approach.

Law enforcement is statistically proven to be more hyped up, more anxious ,more willing to use deadly force against African-American suspects. Initially, they thought the white stripper and her boyfriend, may have known/participated in/ about the bank robbery, yet they approached her house, calmly, nicely, politely at first, and there wasn't any heavy armed surveillance. the FBI just kind of busted in the door, AFTER repeatedly knocking!!!!, THEN just went on in, and yet Tim is immediately surrounded by a SWAT like team before he even got in the door. Why couldn't they let him get out of the car and swarm him, (on initial contact?) Later, the FBI's anxiousness, caused those babies to get killed. Their so called Dad did the unconscionable deed, so ultimately, that evil is on him ,but I'm just saying..... 🥴

I support law enforce work but I can't stop feeling that alerting the suspect was a really bad call. They gave away the element of surprise and place the children in danger. That was very poor FBI work. I cannot expect common sense of two criminals parents, but I expect an FBI agent to visualize possible outcomes. Even in the movies an actor is smart enough to see what's coming. This FBI agent should be serving coffee to real agents.

I think if we use hindsight and the situation was approached differently, everyone could have been saved. But in the end, the police and SWAT team followed established procedures - procedures that are reasonable - and ultimately it didn't work out because it turned out the guy had the kids in the room and that he had murderous intent for his family in this scenario. The police were not reckless in any way. The wife was. The children are victims that were stuck with horrible parents. The husband and wife were both criminals. "Coward's way out"? Self preservation is the strongest instinct had by any living organism. To overcome that and take your own life doesn't sound like cowardice to me. Maybe not bravery, but definitely not cowardice. The man was a heartless scumbag but to call suicide the "Coward's way out" dismisses so many sick, hurting, depressed people struggling with suicide. I say this as the last male of my family, both my father and brother committed suicide. So next time maybe choose your words more carefully or maybe say nothing.

@@jemdew3123 I am talking about without announcing their presence. In other words, don't call the room to announce their presence, once they confirmed the wife was inside, after sending the security to knock on the door. I know the authorities said that this is what they usually do, and that the perpetrator (s) usually comply after knowing he/she/they are surrounded. But sometimes they do commit suicide after knowing they're surrounded and there is no escape. And personally, I didn't give a shit that the guy chose to take his life (and even that of his wife...who helped him escape from prison). The authorities had recover most of the money, anyways. What an ending this is to a tragic situation. And what kind of woman and mother will take her small children to be on the run with her scumbag husband to wind up dead. That was a very selfish act from her, so evil, such irresponsible behavior from both parents, they were only thinking for themselves and the money. Two innocent children lost their lives at the hands of their own parents. Sophia didn’t have to pull the trigger to kill their two girls, her actions as an irresponsible and selfish mother killed their two daughters. It was evilness at its very finest. May the little girls Rest In Peace always. They didn’t deserve to die that way, it was a brutal death committed by their father. Sad indeed.

These people were screwed up much earlier in life than when they ran into money. They were both screwed up in early childhood Blackburn had a narcissistic personality and possible sociopathy besides. The wife had some type of co-dependent personality disorder with possible anti-social traits. You don't get this extreme after you become an adult. A normal person can be corrupted by money. These people were extreme therefore tgeir corruption had happened in early childhood. It took adulthood to be able to pursue money and what it could bring them that had already been desired.

The way Sofia used a tool to unscrew the call window frame, without a guard behind her is not acceptable, this was total negligence on part of the police, I'm really angry 😡

The part I don't understand is why the jail had a window that could be easily removed by taking out a few screws. If not for that there would be two more kids in the world.

Blackburn asked the agent to let them go. The agent said he can't do that. The agent got his kids killed. He didn't even try to negotiate because the F.B.I always has to get their man! The agent should have said I'll let you go, and you alone. When I hang up you have 15 minutes to get out of here, and run as far away as you can. Our priority right now is to make sure your kids are safe. We will deal with you later. The guy wasn't very good at staying on the run. They would've found him again eventually

If the guards at the jail had been better marksmen and more aggressive in their efforts to prevent Blackburn's escape, those kids would be alive today. As a retired infantryman, it's been my experience that DOC and BOP guards are among the worst shots on earth.

that’s why prisons should have former military snipers in the towers, to let the inmates know that they will die if they attempted to escape
