What will the autumn years of such objects as stars look like?
And will we ever be able to observe what a dying star is like? Will mankind ever see the so-called black dwarf?

@@TheZenytram arxiv.org/abs/1403.4495 It's not hard to google this stuff. There's a ton of things we "know" about but haven't directly observed or been able to test. Inferred theories are the tip of the scientific spear and through them, we can glean information and predictions that serve to produce even further theories. For example, up until 2016, we had no direct evidence of black holes. We only inferred their existence based on the mathematical predictions of specifically massed stars going supernova and the inevitable extreme density object. Now we have proof.

So...with a "black dwarf", it's not a gravitational issue as in larger masses of stars such as black holes (in which light cannot escape), but a theory of a celestial object basically "burning out" to a mere lump of non-illuminous mass then🤔 The "darkness falls theory" as I call it is not totally plausible because another "theory" of elements & its energy created/depleted is never truly "created OR destroyed" (energy in particular)...so SOMETHING would happen & "reignite it" (another "big bang"...which has been theorized would eventually reoccur over a near immeasurable length of time)🤔 So...where does THAT leave this dismal future of "eternal darkness" mentioned here🤔

Okay so what "material" is a black dwarf? Lets say it's cool enough that it won't hurt me... can I walk on it? If I'm walking on the surface of a black dwarf, what would I have in my hand if I reached down and picked some of the surface up?
@christophervanasse9911
@christophervanasse9911 2 жыл бұрын
Very uneducated guess, but they’re basically just the remaining elements of the former star squished together into matter that’s unfathomably dense (almost like a black hole) Since the density of a black dwarf is so insanely great I think the gravitational force would literally turn you into a pancake? Seems to me like they’re more like black holes than terrestrial planets and the gravity would be wayyyy too powerful to even fly spacecraft towards, let alone land on, or walk on, or pick up. A speck of black dwarf dust would weigh more than the entire earth I think? Just going on what I think I understand about density and gravity.
