A black Mole Snake (Pseudaspis cana) near Kleinpoort, southern Karoo

I found this beautiful pitch black Mole Snake in the southern Karoo. It saw my vehicle approaching and quickly hid in some grass and low bushes in the 'middelmannetjie' of the two track road. In this video I have included some interesting facts about these beautiful snakes. .

Are they dangerous?

They are not venomous. They mainly strangle their prey but their bite can be severe because they have a cutting edge along the inner part of their teeth on their lower jaw.
