Hi friends! Just want to update you guys that Silkkin is actually a Latino owned brand and not a black owned brand! I don’t want to edit them out of the video because I still love the products and I think supporting brands created by BIPOC is super important but I just wanted to add that in so no one was confused! 💓 hope you guy are loving today’s video and I am loving all the recommendations for future haul videos!

Loved this video! I really appreciate that you are a white woman with a fiancé who I (sorry, assuming here) think is not a POC, but you continue to push the right narrative!! The only thing I was hoping you’d do was explain the patterns for the two masks. I took an African dance class a million years ago, but I LOVED learning what the references for the movements were. Thank you for keeping it real!

I appreciate you very much Hannah for this! Also you literally shouldn’t even have to explain in 2021 why supporting black owned businesses is important. I get very tired of the color blind approach many non black people use. It’s dismissive and people only say they are colorblind when it comes to people not anything else. Seeing color and embracing it is the whole point pretending that you do not see someone’s color which we all know you do unless you are legally colorblind is inherently racist and very ignorant even if you mean well when saying it. These things should not have to be explained in this political and social climate we live in but it’s important that we see color and love each other anyways and a lot of people who say they don’t see color are some of the people I’ve noticed who are racist af lol and are in denial about systemic racism towards black people in this country.
@nique.andrade3 жыл бұрын
ikr! people are like "i don't see colour when i'm buying products! i only buy from brands owned by white people but that's a coincidence 😇"
@Avoiceintheshadow3 жыл бұрын
Saying you're "colorblind" to skin tone is another way of saying, "I refuse to see the struggle you go through because of your race." It's disrespectful and denies the truth. Black people definitely get treated worse on a daily basis and it's wrong to deny that.
@sheelfjohnson3 жыл бұрын
"Seeing color and embracing it"... _yess_ !! When people say they don't see color, I always feel like it has a negative connotation to it, like they have to overlook an entire part of a person's being, when it is actually an important part of the person that should not be overlooked, but embraced. I love the way you said that.

And that's why we love ourselves some Hannah🥰. As a Black woman before I purchase anything I first look for black owned companies. Yes I still support large companies but that's only if I can't find what I like or need; or if I just overall like company. I also support a lot of small women owned business as well. I wish people would just due a little research before making ignorant comments on why not shop all brands.

If you’d like to learn more about the history of black owned businesses, look up Marcus Garvey! While he was not a wholly good person (he said some pretty antisemitic things and was anti-socialist, which distanced him from the many poor black labourers and other activists of his time), he was one of the pioneers of African-American economic independence. And of course, we can’t forget Madam CJ Walker, because as usual, black women are absolute stars.

I live in Finland, so buying from small black businesses really isn't very realistic for me. However, I do consume a lot of black art, music, and film. This month I've been listening to the new Jazmine Sullivan album a lot. I've been rewatching Insecure, and I just watched If Beale Street Could Talk. I realize not everyone is going to love rnb, soul and hiphop as much as I do, but I do think each and everyone of us can support black film and art, and in that way help black artists, actors, writers and directors tell their stories. It supports black communities financially, gives black people representation in art and film, and it helps everyone else understand the black experience a little bit better.

I want to support Jackie’s candles so badly but I can not afford them. I will be that person that isn’t afraid to say this out loud. They are way too expensive for candles. I think when I start working again I will buy one. But $68 for two candles is way too expensive. And I think people have not wanted to bring this up in fear of insulting her. I understand there is a luxury candle. I have owned some in the past and honestly you get what you pay for when it comes to candles. I absolutely know that if I buy her candles it would be in sinc with a slatkin or higher level candle. But for the size you’re getting I’m shook about the price. Jackie has great taste and would give us nothing but perfection so I know when I can afford she would be my first place I go to for this luxury experience. I 💯 know it would be worth it for a treat to myself. When I think of Jackie I think luxury and I would love to support her and have supported all of her brand launches.
