I recently came across this movie since we're currently refitting a 1991 Corsair F27 and I had to share it with you guys!
This is a movie about a group of Corsair F27 owners sailing in the 1989 Newport to Ensenada race, and then cruising Mexico afterwards. This movie highlights the advantages of the then revolutionary trailerable trimaran, the Corsair F27. There are also interviews with both Ian Farrier and John Walton. It's a great little film and certainly worth a watch if you enjoy sailing, and want to learn a little recent sailing history.
Let me know what you think.

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

What an amazing SAILING BLAST from the PAST! How exciting to revisit the 1989 Newport to Ensenada race of 500 sailboats with Dennis OConner - "Stars and Stripes", Buddy Ebsen-"Cheyenne", Walter Kronkite- "Wyntje" and the President of Corsair John Walton of Walmart fame aboard the "Corsair." What a blessing to see John enjoying his family - Christy and Lucas aboard his Corsair F27. How cool would it be to shoot this video again in the near future with 4k video, Dolby Digital audio and drone footage featuring Christy and Lucas memorializing their late husband/father John Walton. And what an incredible showing in the 1989 Multihull Division to have 8 out of 12 top slots won by Corsairs. Amazing video and an amazing boat with a great engineering and design pedigree thanks to Ian Farrier.

Thanks for posting! After watching this the 10k was a good deal. I didn’t realize the revolutionary nature of the boat. Really cool!

Thanks so much for this outstanding movie! Having sailed in this race 17 times, my Dad truly loved this race. Only trophied once but it was a shining moment in his life long love sailing. It would seem that your Corsair has a long record of fun, fast and safe sailing behind it, so you kids should really have some wonderful times on her. Thanks again!

My friend has one and they are amazing to sail. They are hard to dock has the wind push it sideways. You need to keep the board down, at least half way. The engine being on the side, you also have trouble going straight on acceleration. It takes a lot longer then 20 minutes to get it ready and it is a 2 to 3 man job but it is within one hour when you are use to it.

They are a lot of fun to sail! We had a demo boat going 20kts in 30knts of wind. John Walton was a neat guy. He would show up driving an Astro van. He was not pretensious at all. Ian and John enabled tens of thousands to experience trimaran sailing.

Your getting us revved up! I like the new 37 and when comparing price to a rapido, it's a no brainer. That F27 is already a bad ass boat. The rebuild is going to make it even sweeter.

Super fun! I used to sail with these guys back in the 80s and crewed with John Walton once on his F-27 in the Santa Barbara to King Harbor race. Corsair Marine was state-of-the-art boatbuilding at the time and John was quite the visionary. Cheers!

An hour-long commercial for one of the most heavily marketed boats in history. That aside, it was nice to see Gino Morrelli with Dennis Connor. Gino was only 31 when he was part of the design team for Stars and Stripes.

Imagine the guy "responsible" for that music, agreeing to be shown on film! Brave! The shirts. The moustaches. The hair. The "visor cap". It's like a time warp. A very nasty one.

And Jim Brown's podcasts on Outrig Media, when a glider pilot and some surfers decided to build a boat, and sailing became flying. Happy Kiteboarding 80 years later. These are the days of miracles and wonder.

Great video - a good tribute to Ian Farrier and all those F27 sailors - sadly he has left us The F27 is a great boat and just think, you can have an as new F27 if you keep working on it and do a good job.

That was an mazing find Jordan. Definitely a good sales video for the F27 and a good with for those who like sailing videos. Did a quick scan on Google for F27s for sale and they are running around $30k to $45k depending on year and condition. So I think you got a good deal if you get as much fun out of it as it looked like everyone was having 32 years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Capable and cool little yachts but just not laid out quite right for the wife and I with our special needs son. They really do have a cool story to them and have been well proven. I understand why you wanted one and know you'll get your's refitted and raring to go. Thanks for sharing this cool piece of sailing history. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
