Everyone keeps comparing this situation to spongebob, however I want to compare it to my little pony friendship is magic. The original creator of the show, lauren faust, left the series after the first 2 seasons, and then the show went on for 7 more seasons, a movie, and a spinoff in the form of 4 movies, and a couple webseries (equestria girls). The big difference between this and spongebob is, the show was handled really well, and possibly got even better without it's original creator left. Yeah, the original creator of spongebob left after the first movie, and lauren left many seasons before the mlp movie, but it's a similar situation of the original creator leaving after a few seasons. I wanted to bring this up, specifically to show that sometimes a show that goes through a creative lead change, does not always get worse over time. I just want to point this out, cause it gives me more hope that bluey will be similar to mlp fim in the regards of a creative lead shift.

I think that's a pretty good way to look at it, honestly. I've been joking a bit about a pessimistic outcome, but realistically the show's in great hands as long as Ludo stays independent, which it almost definitely will. They've always fought hard for creative control. Bluey's success has given them huge leverage, become a point of national pride & they have more mature projects on their belt (like Willie) that they won't give up so easily.

allow me to clarify that Joe Brumm isn't actually quiting on Bluey (he would never. it's his and always was). he is simply stepping away from the show as showrunner for a short while so that he can focus on the movie. ~ oh. and disney is only distributing the film on streaming in america (and i presume theatrical distribution). they have absolutely nothing else to do with the film (at least no info yet on what other parts of the movie they have a say in) hope this clarified some things and eased someone.

Thank you for mentioning that CG can be 2D. Everyone kept saying it was gonna be 3D even though that was never confirmed. I also find this quite similar to SpongeBob, like you said. Season 4 may (or may not) drop in quality like SpongeBob, but I doubt Bluey will be lasting for 25 years with 15 seasons, 4 movies, and 2 spinoffs.

I'm just glad they wish to put in so much effort to give us more to the franchise. I'm excited about the movie, I can't wait to see what it'll be. However, the hiatus is understandable because it is certainly not easy to keep going continuously without taking a long break whilst expecting to push out content better than the rest every time. Personally, I like to stay positive, I'm sure the movie will be great and the series will continue to hold its charm for future generations.

Unlike Miraculous, which got seasonal rot after Season 2 ended, I fear the same thing for Bluey as Bluey is the most popular show in Australia as of 2024. While I want the show to keep going, I personally think Bluey needs a long break to focus on the upcoming film, and then after the film, Bluey along with her voice actor might age up to the age she was at the end of Surprise, I know it's unlikely to happen, but despite this, Bluey already became a worldwide success after years of hard work. I want the same for other shows who have that potential, (i,e: good writing, music/soundtrack, voice acting, animation). If you don't like the show it's ok, however, there's no need to attack the creator of the show, he's just stepping away from the show, not quitting. If he quit, the show wouldn't be the same without him, and the show would receive seasonal rot and the characters would be flanderized into either unlikable assholes or just really hard to recognize their character, similar to what happened with SpongeBob when Season 15 released. Moving on, Bluey will decline in quality in the mere future *if* Brumm quits the series, I'm not saying he will because he said he's stepping away from the show to work on the movie. For now, let's just wait for more updates to come.

I know this seems like the least likely possibility, I would love to see a more adult-oriented Bluey series focused on its adult characters and the things they go through. Despite Bluey being arguably the best representation of what it is like to be as a kid, it does make me wish we could see the more mature stories the adults’ lives could tell. I want to see more of characters like Pat, Wendy, Rad and Frisky, Stripe and Trixie, etc. something of a sitcom à la Friends but in the Blueyverse.

I'm certainly hyped for the Bluey movie, and I think the franchise will be at least ok when Season 4 starts running, but it will decline in quality just a little bit, but it'll still keep it's charm throughout the season. However, Joe Brumm knew that his command that Bluey will be pretty bad without him, he wouldn't say that show is isn't ending.

I’m confident the Bluey Team will make a fantastic movie. They know their stuff and want it to be amazing. I believe in them. That being said, Ludo being independent can only mean this show can reach a graceful conclusion. It going on for far too long would harm the show’s reputation and given Brumm’s words, he’s right to feel that way. That being said, the fact the show is still insanely popular despite how long it’s been on for is a great testament to the show’s overall quality. I hope the show continues to sustain said quality.

Technically its always been "Digital puppetry" or as some may refer to it as "Flash animation", id imagine the intention is to do a 3DCG film, there is franchises that have managed the 2D look in 3D animation but its mostly the japanese that have mastered that with the anime Beastars and the last 12 years of the Shimajirou Franchise my Digital Puppetry point is proven at the end of season 3 episode 29 "Puppets" where it shows the software used to animate the show (CelAction2D v3.9838) from the animators perspective
