A BOGUS DAY OUT!

Tom, Just for your knowledge "handedness" in archery relies not on what hand you're dominant with but rather what eye you're dominant with. The drawing hand (the one on the bow string) is the one they use when referring to a left or right handed bow (right handed bow holds the bow with the left and draws with the right). To figure out what eye you're dominant with you can try an exercise we use in teaching; 1) Extend your arms out in front of you with your palms facing away 2) Overlay your hands so they make a sort of small triangle shaped hole between your index and thumbs of both hands 3) Line up an object so you can see it with both eyes through the hole in your hands 4) Bring your hands slowly towards your face while keeping the object in view 5) The eye you bring your hands to is your dominant eye, this is the handed bow your should use for best results That all said if you're right eye dom and left handed or left eye dom and right handed (aka cross-dominant like me) then shoot whatever feels better to you, it's more important to enjoy the sport than to worry about handedness. If you get serious into the sport a cross-dominant archer would have some retraining to do of either their eyes or hands to get better scores but a recreational archer should focus more on proper form (to avoid injuries) and most importantly enjoyment rather than getting perfect scores. P.S. If you're serious about tossing those shorter arrows you could ask a local club if they would like them, and if they don't I'd gladly trade you a set of three longer ones and I'll give the short ones to our club's students.

Tom it doesn’t matter which hand you are dominant with it’s depending one which eye dominant you are. For example if you stand at your entrance to the garage door and look at your clock, put your hands up to form a triangle, close one eye and switch, which ever eye sees more of the item is ur dominant eye for aiming

I've done archery as an hobby a few years ago. Still have my bow, even done a bit of competitive. Lovely sport it is. Your dominant arm is usually the one you draw the bow with, so I'm pretty sure you got the right one. Also try not to fire your bow "dry", without an arrow in it, cause it can damage your bow (which could be dangerous). Have fun, and be safe.
