These last couple Upgrade My Stays have kind of...missed the mark for me, personally. I feel like the series could really benefit from host participation. Maybe a little interview with them in the beginning; they could say their wants and needs, have a checklist, favourite colours/metals/woods/stones/patterns/themes, as well as what they do _not_ want. Some of the "upgrades" seem half-finished as well, such as that kitchen wall divider--it just looked like cloth draped over a frame. I think a proper divider should have been used instead (or, what other commenters have suggested, a plant wall), or at the very least the DIY one should have been made to look finished. Let us see your planning and design ideas and creative process before you actually start! That could be interesting, too I see real potential, just needs a little _upgrade_ ;)

Sage Brush Girl Agreed. Picky also has kind of a negative connotation and I feel like that’s a bit rude to say about someone 🙁
@saturn4rchive4 жыл бұрын
Lol while I also don't agree it was the best way to describe her, I feel like they meant she limited what they could do with the space including not changing anything about the hair cutting area so it ended up looking out of place
@danniel0ve544 жыл бұрын
@@tanjaweber5188 I completely agree! If I were her I would kind of be offended. There are many other more appropriate and accurate ways to describe someone. As a black woman it was off putting to me to see that the only video I came across of them working for a black person they lable her as picky ..... This is just my honest first impression. My favorite part about this is the mess before it all comes together! In so many design shows EVERYTHING is gone, presumably in the hallway or out on the front lawn, where they act like the whole process isn't "messy". Idk, I just feel vindicated because everytime I've redesigned my room or my living space it's just so messy until it's put together again! It seriously looks sooo good! I love the four panels of curtain, it's like a little peak into how cool the rest of the space is and still allows a lot of natural light in to the salon area!

I think the video is awesome. You don't have control over the client, so people who made comments about it being "awkward" need to bear that in mind. I actually loved it because it's really authentic. I love it. People also misinterpreted the client's reaction. I am similar to her and I can see she was overwhelmed in a good way, just taking time to process.
