For anyone with a similar issue of couch cushions not staying put- if you don’t want to/can’t make a whole new armrest, you can use heavy duty Velcro strips to attach and secure the bottom or back of the cushions to the base of the couch or chair. Obviously it’ll be more secure if you sew it onto the cushion covers but I think some Velcro come with an adhesive back.

Becky is slowly becoming my favorite "Sorry Girl" because her ideas are simplistic, stylish, and creative. Every project you do inspires me to get up and try making something new from objects that are easily attainable. You have expensive tastes but with a natural common sense approach of acquiring the same look and feel.....and that is what makes you the perfect designer.

Instead of another big round light (since you already have at least two in the same room from what I can tell) I think this would be the absolute perfect opportunity to try a really low hanging light like the ones from the 70s Ikea catalogue video. There's rarely a chance to try something like that but here it could work really well.

I’m LOVING this area of the house!! This might be a weird suggestion, but I think the couches should be closer together and centered with the shelf bay that’s one more to the left. This would make a more intimate hang out space and would separate it from the living room just a bit. This would also offset the focal point of the shelving unit which could be nice. I saw someone else’s suggestion to use a low hanging pendant lamp over the coffee table and I think that would definitely go with the cozy, conversation pit vibes! I am obsessed with the direction this space is going!!!

For future projects, instead of buying plugs, collect the saw dust from the cuts and drilling, mix it with wood glue to make a paste, and shove it in the hole. It's like a sandable/stainable wood filler that matches the color of your wood

The best part after the couch is definitely the light. It hits that post- space race vibe that 70’s Doctor Who had. Where we comfortably knew the stars were in our grasp so we didn’t need the tin and silver colors anymore, we could explore the colors out there in space itself. It’s fantastic and super interesting as a light piece!!

yeah because the fabric is already so busy I dont think you would get away with mending it or patches sometimes that can look rather nice but highly dependant on the style and fabric of the sofa. you didnt see how used the sofa was when it was in the breakfast nook now it reminds me of the couches friends had in their basements, garages or garden sheds. good enough to still sit on for a party and not problematic if you spill on it haha

LOVE how the space turned out ! The couch arm idea was brilliant, super functional and adds little interest without taking away from the couch, the art work and the room styled with the coffee table. I think paper lanterns like the ones from your previous home in the staircase hung lower would be a great alternative as well since you have the disco ball and other round fixtures in the same space. The lanterns would give it that cozy and intimate vibe especially if it’s going to be used as a “conversation pit” 🧡🤎🤍🤎🧡

SORCERY?!?! (I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!) Then I was blown away as soon as you turned the light on!! It is absolutely PERFECT!!! It's taken me many years of being a perfectionist-artist to learn to go ahead and embrace the initial serendipity of the outcome, and not continually question how the debut of a project presents itself. Sometimes it is as it needs to be. And the Noguchi replica table?! Are you even kidding me right now?! What a score!!! Keep up the AMAZING work!!!

potentiallty for the light fixture you might have been able to use an airbrush to get a more even interior coating. Anytime I have tried the thin and swirl method it never quite works like I intend it too. An airbrush with really thinned white/cream colored paint and a lot of very thin layers might have created a more even texture. I actually like the planet vibes of the light personally though :)

Oh Becky you did a great job putting that wood on the end of those sofas to keep those cushions from falling off, they really look so pretty and that rug and coffee table go together so good. I also love that artwork you bought and hung in the center of your shelves and all of the things you place everywhere is looking so incredible, sending love and hugs, bye!! 🤗👋👍🙏💜💜💜

Lean into the planet light. It completely goes with the sofa and no one is going to know unless you tell them! The space is perfect. Big Hugs

The light pulls the oranges and yellows from the painting - if there’s anything I learned from art school (besides I don’t want a career as an artist lol) is that when you make mistakes or things don’t go according to an, own it, make it work, and convince everyone it is was a deliberate design/artist choice 😁😆
