CAMPout House, designed by Faulkner Architects, is a 3,800-square-foot residence near Lake Tahoe, California, set on a north-facing slope amidst 100-year-old Jeffrey pine trees. The design prioritizes harmony with the natural environment and resilience against wildfires, using materials like basalt and non-combustible concrete. The home features a central courtyard surrounded by sleeping areas for privacy, while a concrete pavilion serves as the family gathering space, connecting indoor and outdoor views. With its thoughtful use of natural materials and fire-resistant construction, CAMPout House offers a protective yet serene living space that responds to its rugged, forested surroundings.
