Hi Renee. I definitely don't drink 🍷 hard liquor. Maybe wine 🍷 at parties or family gatherings. But not not whiskey. My father was a hard drinker. Look where it got him. Thank you for the history behind the paper. You my friend are truly awesome 😎 in my book. God Bless you sweet heart. Give us more history. HUGS 🤗❤️👍. Maria. ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎🍷☕☕☕☕☕☕🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🫎🫎🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

Great story from the time of Prohibition, awesome research and excellent presentation, as always. Weird coincidence that I just got a call from a friend who got some issues with drinking too much vodka and will move tomorrow to Osnabrueck for a three months rehab. And I´ve also heard about a certain content creator who was a whiskey connaisseur for a limited amount of time...😉 I´ve never been a big drinker, with the exception of parties and family events. 🍷Keep it up, and more "History Behind the Paper" clips will be highly appreciated. 👌 Greets from GER, U.

Not a big whisky drinker here! The last time I had whisky was probably over 10 years ago, that was enough for me 😆 My new laptop has arrived, so I have to get it all set up, install some programs, & hopefully it will make doing my research & editing a bit faster & easier. Like my brain, I always have lots of tabs open & things running in the background! Any plans for the weekend? No auctions or sales here, slow season has begun!

@@PaperandMoose Hope that your new laptop will work perfectly ! No funny weekend actually, because a lot of garden work has to be done: hedge cutting yesterday and cutting Miscanthus sinensis (10 feet tall) today. Labor is life ! 😁

I love the stories you find in old newspapers and other documents, and the way you present them! I think the penalties imposed at the time of Prohibition were rather severe, and not just for possession of alcohol. Why were the Prohibition laws abolished? Wondering about that while enjoying a glass of white wine (Riesling from my favorite wine region, the Rheingau). 🤔🥂🍾 Cheers, Gabriele - Berlin

After Roberta was released from prison, she walks into a bar and orders a drink. 🥃 The bartender pours her a whisky. A minute later she hears, “You look great. Have you lost weight?” She looks around, but there’s no one near. Again, a minute later, she hears, “You know, you don’t look a day over 25.” She looks around again, no one but her and the bartender, so she asks, “Did you hear that?” The bartender replies,, Oh, it’s the peanuts. 🥜🥜 They’re complimentary.” 🤣🤣

Some of the "improve yourself in business" books now tell you to play to your strengths rather than try to strengthen your weaknesses. Pity her strength coincided with that strange period of temperance in our history. And she was only 24! And, most ironically, but not unexpectedly in Utah, she was a member of the LDS who were teetotalers before it was cool. Or law, anyway. (Actually a quick look on the Google suggests that the LDS direction against drinking was contemporary with the national temperance movement). I may have said before that my wife's great uncle was a rural route mail carrier in western NC in the mid-1900s. He used his own car - and bought a new one every two years. Upon every first ride in a new car, men would appear from the woods with shotguns, fearing it was "revenuers." Then they would recognized the mail carrier and say, "Oh, Mr. XX, I didn't see you there. Nice lookin' car you've got!" And he wouldn't see them for 2 more years. Thanks for the video & have a great Wednesday!

I get lost in all of the online records from those that did their time way back when! The small details of a person, down to every single mark, blemish, missing finger. Many look like they are having a chuckle at having been caught, so their mug shots make for a great photograph. Wonder what it was like to be a jail photographer back then! Even the mail carriers were getting in on the action back then, reminds me of Boardwalk Empire! At least they recognized him & didn’t cause any trouble… Mail still had to be delivered! Hope that your work trip is going well & you are enjoying every moment!
