This movie came out in 2014, and is called *The Signal* The movie, as explained in this excellent Spoiler Lab breakdown, is one of the BEST alien abduction stories to date. The film can be slow in the beginning, but it is all part of the protagonist's journey and leads to one huge build up which finishes with a fantastic plot ending / twist which blew my mind. 100% RECOMMENDED!!!

i saw this movie and liked it, especially bc i like the handicapped theme and the idea of creating prostheses far beyond human ability. and in reality, more advanced prostheses are always being developed which is exciting for those that need them. would love to see a remake or a sequel to this movie

This movie is one of the few I watched more than once. Really a good movie. The machines were nurturing the crippled boy for the result the expected from a human being (they chose him for some reason). When he broke the barrier (the illusion/simulation - the real world we know) he joined others (few humans and most probably other creatures) in the ships and raw reality of the universe.

Did you even watch it??? He was born with legs. In multiple memory flashbacks he is running with his legs. He has some sort of accident or illness that messes up his ability to walk. The aliens replace his legs with some sort of cybernetic legs. That are superhuman powerful.
