I remember seeing the name of this show thrown out somewhere a couple of times. I had NO IDEA what it was about. The ads failed to market the show or even explain what it was about! Had they done their job and marketed this properly, I probably would have watched it live when it came out! I'm definitely going to go watch this show because it sounds interesting and hilarious and includes some of my favorite actors! It's a really interesting concept. When I first heard an ad mentioning the show or a commercial showing pieces of the show, I would have NEVER had guessed it had to do with heaven and hell and the afterlife! Such a fun and interesting idea for this show specifically with how they handle heaven and hell compared to more traditional ways of depicting heaven and hell that you see in movies and TV shows. I do have one question though before I watch the ENTIRE SERIES: what does the final door they walk through lead to at the end? Do they go back to Earth? Do they go to the bad place? Is this answered in the show or was it answered during this recap that I somehow missed?

It’s because when getting to the actual good place you have everything you could ever want and do what you want but once you do that for 10s, 100s, or even 1000s of years you would eventually get bored and run out of things to do. The thing about the actual good place is that it is extremely difficult to get into (giving it a type of unreachable status) but once you actually get there you can never leave.

It's a lot like the reason celebrities start on drugs, humans are meant to grow and adapt but in this case much like celebrities you get everything you point at, absolutely everything, your brain gets constantly full of endorphins, yet ultimately that's not fulfilling, happiness is taken for granted rather than something to be sought, so what do celebrities do? They start using drugs to experience something even greater (at least emotionally) the body starts demanding even more and nothing but drugs give any meaning You can tell from shows like "Sweet 16" where young teens already break down and throw a gigantic fit because they got a Lamborgini in the wrong color or because only nine of the ten world famous artists were available for their party, while we would be thrilled if we only got one of those things, they? They get it daily, and the very best things life has to offer end up being taken for granted. Where do you move on forwards when you have had anything you have ever desired at the age of ten? From then on the world starts looking bleak compared to everything you had, which is naturally no longer what you want or need

It is in THIS life for you to make a change of heart and turn towards Jesus. "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. People don't understand sadness, depression, those things aren't suppose to exist in heaven, the concept of feeling irritable, or tired, or bored, does not exist, it might be hard to comprehend how living like that would be ok.

And to have it where once you leave the actual good place you can never come back, would be crazy. Like you said, all those emotions that would bring you down will not be an issue as you will always live the best life :)

I thought it would've been more like the reincarnation cycle.... After life you move on but (with a twist) go to the bad place to build character then to the good place. Once tired of the good place you be reborn to earth and so on. But, I liked this way also.

Technically they could bring that about, also there isn't anything said about the final door. At most the best I can gather is that You have the original soul, it lives, then dies, ends up in purgatory, goes to either paradise or damnation, the ones in the paradise can live anything they desire or want essentially eliminating the idea of reincarnation. At least for the individual. The final doorway likely is the annihilation of the persons soul or individuality. Perhaps cleansing the soul and purging it of the individuality of that person. It is then either absorbed back into what ever the realm or universe is, and or perhaps is reincarnated as a new individual free of the original person. So in theory it could be reincarnation but the person that the soul originally was is now long gone no memory, no original individuality, Just a clean blank slate ready to create a new person.

wow I love how choose the important parts. I read the review for all seasons after watching s1, but the rest of the series feels like losing its fizz over time... I like how you keep it brief and interesting despite my impression of the full series!

When they go through they door, they became a single act of goodness which reaches earth and makes it just a little better. Arch a good show

Lol. She was in her designer bad place all along. Everyone was a Demon. And Everything was mental torture to the point she tried bargaining for her "soul". I believe the last door was to take the soul (after all the tourture). That's why its no return. But those Demons had fun torturing her before she ended it. Also the guy never went to earth. He is immortal. This was another bad place and was training/promotion for him to become an all knowing being like the Judge.
