A breathy voice -what is breathy voice ,

A breathy sound in your voice - if it is consistent,
may be a sign for vocal chords that work un - properly.

Breathiness is sexy. Most ppl try to get their voices breathy for sex appeal. Still, I get the point in having the control to "correct" it if needed.

Hi John Yes, Breathy sound is indeed considered to be a sexy way of producing your voice - once you have complete control over the voice, and can choose - when you wish to sound breathy, or not. If that is not the case - when control is very limited, and all you can do is produce breathy sound - it means the voice needs some strength.. and some very accurate work on it -is needed. all the best Orya

I am blessed (or cursed, as I cannot control it) with a consistent breathy voice. It's neither very high nor low or husky, just very soft. Men tend to comment on its "comforting" or "soothing" quality & they sometimes keep me on the phone at work longer than necessary, asking silly questions or making small talk. However, I can't speak continuously without hitting the mute button on my phone every 2 minutes or so; my voice can move from clear to hoarse before the end of a sentence, often cracking & impelling me to cough in order to clear my throat enough to continue....& on & on it goes. Breathiness affects my speech rhythm/cadence as I can manage only blocks of words at a time before pausing to clear my throat--Marilyn Monroe can be heard clearing her throat at various intervals in her interviews. I know why.

Im sorry to hear that your voice gets hoarse so often, may I suggest you either 1/ take a voice lesson -so I can hear your voice, and assist you with effective tools, If you wish to do so - we can set a time for a voice lesson via Skype online. send me an email to [e-mail] Or you may go to a doctor ENT ear nose and throat - for examining your vocal tract, and see if there are any imbalances, that requires a medical treatment. I've usually wondered about this aspect of my voice, especially when I sing. Usually it sounds airy, not something I'd considered normal or even good. I've never gone to a professional for help but I guess this video has helped me understand it better...?
