*_IMPORTANT NOTE : Please read before commenting_* UPDATES to The War Doctor's timeline since this video was made : *. The short story Decoy from the Target Storybook : taking place between Four Doctors & Big Finish's Agent Of Chaos series* Features Rassilon using an Auton clone of The War Doctor to lead a TimeLord armada into a Dalek Ambush. Enraged by this The REAL War Doctor "reprograms his clone" to have the TimeLord armada retreat from The Daleks, and then sends a SECOND clone to Gallifrey to berate Rassilon for his actions whilst The REAL War Doctor breaks into Rassilon's Armoury to steal weapons, before luring the Dalek ships into a trap which destroys them. *. The poem The Red & the Blue, from Now We Are Six Hundred :* Plot currently unknown as I have yet to buy this book, but the poem is based on A.A. Milne's poem from Now We Are Sixth titled The Dormouse & The Doctor *. Regenerations - War Doctor Anthology book:* The exact placement of the stories in this anthology are currently unknown *. Big Finish’s - The War Doctor Begins:* Until these are released we won’t know exactly where they come in but given the title they will likely be early in his life *Note about video length & title* Recently I've noticed quite a few comments making comparisons between this video being called A BRIEF History and yet it's over 27 minutes in length, so if you're bothered by the length of this video then please remember not one is making you watch it. The point of A Brief History is to provide a relatively short but comprehensive history of elements of the Doctor Who universe, that could potentially take people days or weeks to watch/listen/read through, especially when it comes to things like comics/books/Big Finish which not everyone has easy access too. As such 20+ minutes IS a brief amount of time in comparison and I'm sorry if some people don't have attentions spans long enough to just enjoy the video for what it is

That's kinda what I was going for however I was more referencing his original 1988 book, and yet no one seems to be complaining about Stephen Hawking cramming more to less the entire history of time into a 5000+ words, 256 page book which would take an average person about 3-4 hours to read, and then saying "that's not brief"

This is insanity. Very hard to wrap one's head around. But what's clear is the war doctor's war was one of both conventional combat, and unconventional. Time and space wars are quite the mess it seems. And this is why i have the theory that humans will never actually figure out time travel. Imagine if we did, all the things we could totally flub up. We're locked in place as far as time goes for a reason.
@CaptainJimiPie4 жыл бұрын
There is a lot to take in which is why I've tried to lay it out as clearly as possible but it is very complicated. As for time travel, (that's kinda my thing science wise), and given that it's theoretically possible then I think when technology catches up one day we will be able to do it, however there will also be potential limitations to travelling into the past For example the telephone theory that we will only be able to travel back to the point of the creation of the first time machine as they will need to communicate with each other to work properly, or if you believe in universal sentience then it's possible that the universe itself could stop us interfering. But there's also the possibility that our current universe is the production of someones meddling in history and that's why we don't have time travel...rather like the universe the possibilities are endless

Not necessarily, the death of John Hurt means obviously he won't be in the TV series again (with the exception of archive footage) and Big Finish won't do another full cast War Doctor series, but it's possible they may do short trips featuring his Doctor, with Nicholas Briggs doing his fantastic impression, and the character is still very much alive in comic/novel form.
@jacobredfield13865 жыл бұрын
"Brief History"- 27 minutes long- part 1....
@CaptainJimiPie5 жыл бұрын
That's because Part 1 is simply chronicling ALL of The War Doctors life up the point of recording as it was easier just to do one initial video on it and then update it at a later date when more information comes out with a Part 2 Plus given the original cut of this video with more clips and audio snippets was running at over an 1h 20minutes, and if you actually watched/read/listening to the entire War Doctor history across the various media it would take days, I think trimming it down to 27 minutes is actually pretty brief in comparison.

So the first up to the eighth doctor hadn’t fought in the time war? Had the time war happened by the time the first doctor left gallifrey or did it only start towards the end Of the classic series? I don’t know if that sounds like a stupid question, it’s just always confused me
@CaptainJimiPie4 жыл бұрын
The Eighth Doctor didn't "fight" in the time war, but by his own admission that's because instead he chose to "help where he could". As for when the Time War began it's a bit of a subjective question, it didn't START during the classic series but events of it may have been present at that time, due to it being a TIME War. I will be covering it in a future A Brief History, but in short linearly in went on for 400 years, starting sometime prior to The Eighth Doctor's regeneration into the War Doctor but AFTER the end of the classic series. However as The Time War was fought through all of time & space, it equally went on for an eternity and some of the "first shots" of the Time War (such as the events of Genesis of the Daleks) were known to have happened during the classic series.
@wispa1a4 жыл бұрын
Genesis of the daleks is the origin
@CaptainJimiPie4 жыл бұрын
No it's not, not entirely anyway, the events of Genesis Of The Daleks was one of the "first shots" in the Time War however it is generally not considered the event which caused it/started it as a full scale war. Due to it being a Time War with multiple timelines being created and destroyed it's actually had several different origins points, some where it was started by The TimeLord's, others by The Daleks, and either side would always claim the other side started it.
