I've set my Lhazaar campaign at typical two or so years after the Last War and have mostly been using the WOTC book Ghosts of Saltmarsh as the basis for the party to make a name for themselves by completing those adventures. Now that their names are more widely known in their home region and have started traveling to other principalities, the Princes are starting to take notice of them. Lhazaar is such a great part of Eberron for players to rise through the ranks and it's been a thrill to see my own players start to amass wealth and glory and rivals. so I'm very excited to see where your players take your campaign.

Looking forward to seeing this campaign. Any likely interactions with characters from other campaigns (I haven’t finished Khyber Shards) or plans to add in some of the great mysteries of Eberron (like the lost mark in KS) to this campaign?

I intend this to be part of the same timeline, so it's certainly possible. There are definitely some of Eberron's mysteries available in the region, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them became important, although the Principalities have some strange mysteries of their own!

I'm even more excited about this campaign, now! Also this video is just a great general overview of the Principalities for anyone that wants to run a game there.

Okay, so now we know what PC/NPC ship will be pursued without knowing any of the PC's yet lol
democratic is not the word I would use to describe how most of the princes got their power, Especially the lorghali since any captain and win the seat of prince by challenging the current one to games of wit and strategy. this is much closer to what would be classified an a form on Anarchic-collectivism government than what is traditionally seen as democracy. pirates in the golden age of sail especially the ones that established Tortuga worked on a basis of anarcho principles the leaders being chose or removed at the collective will of the whole, some ships operated without a designated captain until one was chosen to get through a particular crisis like a battle, trade, or survival and then would step down after the crisis has passed.

What year does the campaign start in? Ryger's 7-20 year princehood implies that it starts in 1003 or 1005 YK if I'm doing my math right.

@@emilyaw3831 we'll pick up in 1005, so about 5 years post KS
