A Brief History of U.S. - Cuba Relations

I as an American must say that the history of U.S.--Cuba relations has been a history of bad decision after bad decision on the part of the U.S. The American attitude towards Cuba has been that Cuba is an unruly child that needs to be closely supervised, and spanked when it gets out of line. Thus the frequent interventions in Cuba's internal affairs, and the backing of unsavory leaders only because they were pro-American corporations. Perhaps the biggest mistake was backing Batista's 1952 coup. Had we told Batista to stand down and restore the constitutionally elected Prio government, there would never have been a Batista dictatorship, and thus no Revolution and the establishment of communism.

I agree the U.S couldve give more autonomy to Cuba. Havana could have been the Hong Kong or Singapore of the western hemisphere like the British did and not go so far to see a world class city. Politics was the source of Cubas downfall it was any island with an enormous potencial to be a wealthy prosperous developed country.

Money is always an issue for the USA to get "offended" so when people do that country decides to be independent and FREE 2 things that USA "stands for" in their territory but dismisses that when is somewhere else and the rich are becoming more rich. The fact is that many counties have been fighting what the Americans are realizing that money is controlled by only a 2% and the media and government have always make sure that what other counties do in regards to that and fight for more equality is projected as something bad. I'm not justifying Castro at all but I think if the U.S. Would just mid their business in their land along with Europa the world would be on a much better situation than now

Everyone deserves to be able to live in freedom, Have free speech, have an opportunity to work/succeed, and get an education. My grandpa came here illegally from Mexico and worked harder than anyone I know. I know this can come across as possibly ignorant but it is being said in the upmost respect but, I've never met a person who came here and didn't work extremely hard. Prove me wrong 🤷🏽‍♀️
