This is something I always took interest in! The amount of verb conjugations in Portuguese can sometime throw people off from learning it :/ And as always keep up the good work! :D

Vídeo breve mas bem interessante do canal. Em galego muitas destas formas verbais tradicionais galego-portuguesas como o futuro do subjuntivo (ou conjuntivo) e o infinitivo pessoal ainda som usadas polos falantes nativos mais velhos ou aqueles falantes com um conhecimento profundo da língua mas, infelizmente, estamos a perdê-las nos falantes mais novos que mesmo sendo fluentes em galego desconhecem ou evitam essas formas por influência do castelhano onde como explica Sacha no vídeo nom som usadas hoje em dia.

@@SachaDoesPortuguese Pois é, umha mágoa mesmo estarmos a perder essas formas verbais, tal como acontece com o léxico e a fonética do galego. E ainda mais grave quando vemos que tudo isto é consequência dumha política linguística iniciada na Galiza nos anos 80 do século XX quando foi estabelecido, por motivos puramente políticos da Espanha, que a nossa língua era diferente da falada em Portugal e no Brasil. Até hoje temos instituiçons cuja funçom deveria ser a defesa da nossa língua a tratarem esta como subalterna do castelhano-espanhol.

Sasha, with your knowledge of Portuguese and it's origins in Latin, you might want to join the debunking of the stupid book by a Spanish named Carme Jimenez Huertas claiming Romanic languages do not come from Latin... "Romance did not Begin in Rome"... There is a good and long debunking of it by Polymathy channel (who specializes in classical Latin and Greek) here kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3ykd5WbqN-Zl6c But one more video from someone with good knowledge in etymology would be good. You might bring some fresh ideas to the table on debunking the book.

I of course agree that it's a silly concept and a publication more intended to draw media attention than to be taken seriously as a linguistic theory, but I also think that there's a fairly broad consensus against it. Interesting idea though, thanks for the suggestion!

@@SachaDoesPortuguese Yes, it's a silly concept. But so is Flat Earth and so many other nonsense that spreads like wildfire on dry grass on the internet and KZbin. Just a few weeks ago I remember someone telling me in Quora that romance languages did not come from Latin. I remember saying it was bullshit but not paying much attention. I just considered it some nonsense. Then I started seeing more about this, to the point where some people into languages on KZbin started doing videos to debunk it. Like forest firefighters trying to contain the fire before it spreads too much.

Obrigado Sacha! Olha acho que o português também é a única língua romance que possui esta conjugação (não me lembro qual e como se chama). Para comprar, para comprares, para comprar, para comprarmos e para comprarem (eu sou de Lisboa e é por causa disso que ocultei o vós, já que praticamente ninguém usa esse sujeito).

O infinitivo pessoal também aparece em sardo, curiosamente! Juntamente com o português e o galego, são os únicos membros da família românica que têm essa forma verbal.

Nos estudos que fazem referência ao sardo, dá-se a entender que se usa essa forma com regularidade, mas não tenho conhecimentos próprios dessa língua suficientes para confirmar além disso!
