this song always makes me cry storyline from what i can remember - Rekha adopts her husbands daughter (shalu) from his affair, but always resents her and has always been unkind to her (shalu didnt know she was not her real daughter) When Rekha finds out that shalu is in some kind of romance with Arjun who she was hoping her own daughter would marry, she flips out, getting majorly triggered, and let the secret out. She accuses her of trying to ruin her daughters life just like her own mum did by having an affiar with her husband. Shalu who has always yearned for her mums love, vows to back off from Arjun, and thus the rift between then heals. Whilst she is upset about Arjun you can see her happiness at her mothers final acceptance of her meanwhile you see arjun yearning for her. and to make it even more sad, the guy she is doing the dance with is her best friend who also secretly loves her and knows she is hurting as she cant marry arjun

Rekha is not just her step mother....basically Rekha's husband cheated on her with Shalu (Preity''s) mom and literally right after Rekha discovered this....both her husband & Shalu's mom died in an accident & while on his death bed, her husband requested that she take Shalu in so even though she did adopt her for her husband's sake it was very very difficult for her to accept Shalu due to the betrayal.
