My zinnias in the garden all got the kiss of death from our super early freeze. It never freezes here! Tragedy! I had a boquet, my very last boquet, with sombrero zinnias and lilac-colored zinnias and lime green ones too! That boquet was on my bathtub for WEEKS. It finally wilted beyond what can be appreciated as being beautiful just last night. And the sorrow of garden time officially being a thing of the past, or the distant future (6 months from now), has caused a depression. I love Ben's simple joy. Garden time! Garden time! Best thing ever.

In today's society we seem to thing the original homesteaders did everything on their own. The reality was they relied a great deal on one another. If someone needed to build a building the word got out what day it was happening and everyone around came to help and brought their tools and animals to help. It was usually up in a day. There was a great deal of bartering for supplies and other things. People needed each other and could not survive alone for the most part. Just like everyone in the family had their part to help the whole. I would love to see more of that happening and shown.

I don't have a chemex... oh boy I feel like you might be a person who understands this Jess. I do have 4 french presses, 2 pour overs, 1 mocha pot, one electric grinder, 2 hand grinders for beans... and the thing that got my coffee fascination started.... great grandma's vacuum pot with the double glass globes on top of a stainless steel urn with wood handles. It is beautiful, wonderful and will never be used. I have gone to roasting my own beans... it is MUCH more cost effective and I find it to be better than buying it even from rotisseries. If I am out and buy a coffee... it is not from the expensive shop with a green sign. I stop at a golden arch place... If I am paying for a coffee I am not going to fully enjoy I don't want to pay a fortune. :D This is where Jess will know I am her people... the last pour over I bought was brand new in the box for $5 Canadian in a thrift store. :D :D :D

I care for my Dad full time 86 and manage his finances, aside from ours. We have a homestead raising cows, goats and some mixed chickens and waterfowl. My garden is for Dad and I, love it. Thank you for sharing the Dr Wyche tomatoes I will be growing them every year going forward. Dad loved them we sat down and ate every one ripe right off the vine. I only planted 4 and next year he wants a LOT lol.

The Zinnias in my garden truly have a life of their own. When I went to plant this spring, there were volunteer zinnias ALL over my garden. They got to be about 6 feet tall. Tore them all out to install new raised beds, and sure enough, new crop is sprouting and will probably fall to the frost this evening. But, they are fun! (LOVE the Queen Limes!)

Allen Farm, superb idea, is there anyone that doesn't love bbq ? But, a healthy version using local producers of organic meat & sugar free bbq sauces would be a big hit, imho. I’ve had the dream to own a coffee and smoothie shop, with a little area for toddlers to play. That part is Mostly for moms to come and let their kids play and hang out! When I was a new mom, there were no places to go except the mall or McDonald’s. 😂 so me and my friend would go out and go to a coffee shop and bring toys and be judged by all the moms who dropped their kids off at daycare first lol! 😂 Brussels are some of my favorite things to grow. They are so delicious!
