Some yrs back I stayed in Porto (loved Porto)and took a river cruise to Regua. Also stayed in Regua for a few days and explored the area both by train and bus, went to Tua and Lamego high up in the hills. Really enjoyed my visit in the area.

I like Porto too, although it’s a bit crazy now with traffic. I’m yet to do a river cruise, next time 😀

@@dreamlifeportugal the traffic wasn´ t a problem for me and my friend, we walked everywhere or took the city buses. I ´m not a fan of driving in big unknown citys myself. It seems like I ´ll be spending the winter in the Algarve this year again. Take care.

It’s a pomegranate (romã), Suzi. I recommend Douro trips in cooler weather when the harvest begins. No wonder it is World Heritage. As much as I love a modern easy-to-clean kitchen, nothing beats a traditional stone one with a fireplace.

Thank you Lisa for reminding me of the name of the fruit. Isn’t it strange how sometimes your memory fails you in such a simple thing. I am sure I will be sometimes sitting by the open fire in the Olde Kitchen during the winter months 🔥😀

Suzi, that was just so awesome! The sunset, the steam train ride...so many people involved working the vines. What a wonderful lifestyle. Thankyou. Hope you found the restaurant along that winding path and thru the old broken gate...or was it a private residence??😅

The restaurant was closed because a lot of places are shut Monday/Tuesday to compensate for being open on the weekends. I went back to the restaurant at the station and ended up having a very nice long lunch with another English lady 😀

Your accommodation in Regua looks like a wonderful location. If you recommend it, can you please share the name? We are coming to Portugal in about 10 days with open hearts and no bookings :)

Here is the link. It’s very Portuguese, the lady speaks perfect English. She also has five very friendly dogs but they weren’t a bother. If you prefer somewhere by the River there is a hotel at Tua with a pool overlooking the river. You can take the train there all the way from Porto Check out Casa da Vinha Grande on Booking.com! www.booking.com/Share-2750vl
